They’ll be aiming for another crucial win on Thursday after a resounding 7-0 victory yesterday evened up the current series at 1-1. Toronto took the first game in the series 6-3.
In the finale, the hosts will be sending out Kyle Gibson (12-7, 4.97 ERA) to the mound. The veteran right-hander has struggled immensely in the month of August, allowing 25 hits and 16 earned runs across three starts (17.1 innings), but he has excelled in his two meetings with the Blue Jays this season. In those two starts, he surrendered only two earned runs in 13 innings, picking up the win in both.
Gibson will be opposed by Toronto’s Jose Berrios, who’s 9-8 with a 3.39 ERA on the year. The 29-year-old righty was pretty sharp in his latest start, allowing a solitary hit and zero earned runs over 5.2 innings.
