Game 1 Odds: New York Yankees at St. Louis Cardinals | 2:15 p.m. ET on FS1

Yankees: -105 | Cardinals: -115
Over 9: -115 | Under 9: -105

On Friday, RHP Luis Severino (1-2) was supposed to line up against LHP Matthew Liberatore (1-2). However, the delay means the Cardinals will pivot to RHP Jack Flaherty (4-5) on the mound. Flaherty is a sizeable upgrade from Liberatore — Flaherty’s 4.95 ERA and 4.76 xERA aren’t great, but they’re much better than Liberatore’s 5.60 ERA and 7.24 xERA.

The Yankees will still start Severino, but he has struggled since returning from injury. Severino owns a dismal 5.25 ERA and 6.51 xERA, ranking worst on the Yankees in both metrics. Even though the Cardinals have seriously underperformed this year, the combination of home field advantage and the pitching matchup are enough for the books to now favor St. Louis.

Game 2 Odds: New York Yankees at St. Louis Cardinals | 7:15 p.m. ET
Doubleheader Odds via Caesars Sportsbook
Yankees: -115 | Cardinals: +105
Over 9.5: -110 | Under 9.5: -110

The last available odds for Saturday’s originally scheduled Yankees-Cardinals game, which likely assumed RHP Jack Flaherty (4-5) would take the mound for St. Louis, had this one at close to a pick’em. The Cardinals were slight underdogs for a matchup that featured a fairly high total. Unfortunately, because the New York Yankees had not announced a starter by Friday night, no markets had reopened as of publication.

St. Louis moving Liberatore to this spot isn’t a good sign for their chances. His bloated ERA and xERA are likely to ensure the books will favor the Yankees regardless of who they choose to send to the mound. RHP Jimmy Cordero (3-2), a reliever, made an emergency start as an opener back in May and could do so again tomorrow. The situation is made all the more complicated by the recent optioning of RHP Jhony Brito (4-4), who had started 11 games this year, to AAA.
