Best NBA Bets for Friday | Domantas Sabonis

Austin Reaves Over 5.5 Assists (+100, DraftKings)

Reaves is coming off a great game against the Suns where he played 39 minutes and led the Lakers with 14 potential assists and 71 touches. He is also posting a 29.4% assist rate over his last 10 games. Reaves’ assists line is sitting at -115 on FanDuel but is even money on DraftKings. With a plus matchup against a Thunder team that is playing its second of a back-to-back on the road, it becomes pretty easy to like the over on Reaves assists.

Reaves is a solid facilitator, and with the Lakers dealing with LeBron James‘s absence, he’s been getting more opportunities to run the offense. Reaves has shown that he can make the most of those opportunities, and he should be able to rack up assists.

Domantas Sabonis Over 41.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-110, DraftKings)

Sabonis has been on an absolute tear recently, with triple-doubles in five of his last nine games on an average of 37 minutes per game. The Suns are without Deandre Ayton again tonight, leaving them with Bismack Biyombo and Jock Landale to man the center position. This gives Sabonis a great opportunity to dominate the paint and put up some big numbers.

Over his last nine games, Sabonis is averaging 20 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists on 22% usage, a 19% rebound rate and 39% assist rate. He’s essentially Nikola Jokic Lite right now, as he is also fifth in the league in touches (92.8 per game), first in rebound chances (24.1) and fifth in potential assists (15.6). With his all-around game and the Suns’ lack of size inside, Sabonis should be able to dominate.

Walker Kessler Over 22.5 Points + Rebounds (-115, DraftKings)

Kessler is never going to be a high-usage player, but he has been playing well recently, especially when Lauri Markkanen has been out of the lineup. In the last five games without Markkanen, Kessler is sporting a 16% usage rate and 22% rebound rate, with 31.4 minutes per game. When playing with Markkanen this season, Kessler has a 12% usage rate and 19% rebound rate across 28 minutes per game. His points plus rebound totals in those games have been 27, 41, 24, 27 and 18. With Markkanen out again tonight, expect Kessler to get more opportunities to score and rebound.

Kessler isn’t a young big man who’s constantly getting into foul trouble either, which should be helpful tonight against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks. The Jazz are going to need his rim-protecting prowess tonight if they intend on keeping things competitive at home.
