NBA Player Props Today: Picks for Jayson Tatum, Nikola Jokic

Jayson Tatum Player Prop

It’s only fitting that the Boston Celtics would be in one of the best spots of the day on St. Patrick’s Day! The Washington Wizards are arguably the worst defensive team in the NBA and are on the second leg of a back-to-back after falling to the Chicago Bulls 127-98 on Saturday in the Windy City.

The Celtics have already ruled out Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and Kristaps Porzingis for this game, but Tatum was announced as available earlier this afternoon. With limited scoring options, Tatum should have an increased role and usage, but his lines are set so high that they’ve become slightly egregious.

This is the first leg of a back-to-back for Boston, and with the Celtics favored by 13 points, this game also has a chance to blow out. Both factors could contribute to a reduction or limit to Tatum’s minutes. Tatum is also nursing an ankle injury and was questionable to play at all until this morning.

In six games this season without Jaylen Brown, Tatum has played an average of 35.3 minutes but has gone under 49.5 total PRA in each of them. Tatum could absolutely fill up his stat sheet today, but this number seems too high. It’s a little bit scary to fade the best player in the best spot on the entire slate, but here we are.

NBA Player Prop Pick: Jayson Tatum Under 49.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-115 on bet365)

Nikola Jokic Player Prop

Reigning NBA Finals MVP Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets are headed south to face Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. Jokic is in the midst of yet another MVP-caliber season, averaging 24.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 9.8 assists per game this year. Despite his giving nature, we’re expecting Jokic to do a little bit more scoring and a little less sharing than usual in this one, and the OddsShopper NBA betting tools are backing us up.

Our NBA betting tools are showing the true odds for Jokic’s assists under at -112. Bettors can gain an edge on the books if they place this bet at BetRivers or SugarHouse, listed at even money. Meanwhile, Pinnacle, a sharp book, lists the under 8.5 assists for -130, a massive discrepancy. OddsShopper calculates true odds by indexing odds available at all books and adjusting for book sharpness and hold.

NBA Player Prop Pick: Nikola Jokic Under 8.5 Assists (+100 on BetRivers)

Victor Wembanyama Player Prop

Victor Wembanyama is must-see-TV every time he steps on to the court. The lengthy, athletic San Antonio Spurs rookie is incredibly fun to watch, especially now that Gregg Popovich has allowed him to take on at least 30 minutes in nine of his last 10 games. Wembanyama and the Spurs will look to snap a three-game skid as they take on the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday afternoon.

Though he may be one of the most fun players to watch in the entire league, we’ll be rooting against Wembanyama on Sunday as we attack the under on his points, rebounds and assists combined. In his last 10 games, Wembanyama has recorded over 37.5 PRA in just four of them, and while the Nets are near the league median in defensive rating, we are anticipating Nicolas Claxton and company to keep the rookie superstar to a modest performance.

This game will be played at a neutral site, with the Spurs hosting the Nets at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas – part of their Interstate 35 Series. This will be San Antonio’s second consecutive game at the Moody Center after hosting the Denver Nuggets at the neutral venue on Friday, March 15. Wembanyama struggled shooting the ball, going just 4-for-12 from the field on Friday, and added just two assists, tying his lowest output since the beginning of February. Fading Wembanyama can be a dangerous game, but we’re betting on another lackluster performance.

NBA Player Prop Pick: Victor Wembanyama under 37.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-115 on DraftKings)
