LeBron James Scoring Record Odds: When Will LeBron Make History?

LeBron James is on the cusp of setting the NBA record for most points scored. He poured in 27 points in a losing effort against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday, now sitting just 36 points shy of  Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record total of 38,387 points. The latest LeBron James scoring record odds show that he’s expected to pass Kareem in one of the Lakers’ games next week.

LeBron James Scoring Record Odds

Per PointsBet, LeBron James is an underdog to pass Abdul-Jabbar (+110) in the February 7 game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He’s favored (-134) to make history in the February 9 game against the Milwaukee Bucks. There are long odds for him to break the record on February 11 against the Golden State Warriors (+800) and February 13 against the Portland Trail Blazers (+2500).

Passing the scoring record will add to Lebron’s storied legacy, and will likely add to the GOAT debate. However, he claims not to be concerned with how he’ll be remembered.

“Hopefully I made an impact enough so people appreciate what I did, and still appreciate what I did off the floor as well, even when I’m done,” James said in an interview with the NY Times. “But I don’t live for that. I live for my family, for my friends and my community that needs that voice.”

James has not reached 36 points in any of his last three games but averaged over 30 points in the month of January. He poured in 41 points in the OT loss to the Boston Celtics last week.

The smart money is on James to pass the scoring record against the Bucks (Abdul-Jabbar’s former team) next week. But it would not come as much of a surprise if he just gets it over with on Tuesday night. Either way, LeBron James will once again have the sports world looking at him throughout the course of the week, and he’ll surely look to put on a show.
