College Basketball Odds: Alabama (-7.5) vs. Mississippi State

Making their SEC Tournament debut, Alabama will take on Mississippi State for the third time this season. Alabama won both of the previous games this year by scores of 78-67 and 66-63. Unfortunately for Mississippi State, Alabama continues to play their best basketball of the year, causing the Crimson Tide to take money.

Prior to a season finale loss to Texas A&M, Alabama had rattled off four straight wins. Even that game against Texas A&M was graded as a ShotQuality win for the Crimson Tide. Alabama ranks 45th in offensive efficiency, while Mississippi State checks in 224th. Coming off the ACL, Jahvon Quinerly has only recently started playing 30+ minutes. The same can be said for big man Charles Bediako. Aside from the offensive mismatch, Alabama also ranks ninth in defensive efficiency and 13th in rebounding. Generally, those two categories grade as advantages for Mississippi State, but not against the Tide.

College Basketball Odds: Maryland vs. Indiana (-1.5)

After blowing out Minnesota yesterday, Maryland will now take on Indiana, who makes their Big Ten Tournament debut. In the regular season, these teams met one time with Maryland winning by a score of 66-55. Like most Big Ten teams, both of these squads have played up and down to their competition all season long. While the matchup brings volatility, Indiana certainly possesses some stylistic advantages.

While Xavier Johnson announced the end of his season due to injury, Indiana is still the healthiest they’ve been all season. These two teams are actually comparable on offense, ranking 53rd and 56th in offensive efficiency. While Indiana holds the slight edge there, it may actually be larger than the numbers indicate. Maryland only scores inside. The Terps ranks 251st in three point percentage, making them a one dimensional offense. Unfortuantely, Indiana ranks 36th in two point defense and now has Race Thompson back in the fold. As for the Hoosier, Indiana ranks 71st in two point percentage and 23rd in three point percentage, giving them multiple ways to take adavantage of Maryland.

College Basketball Odds: Arkansas (+1.5) vs Texas A&M

Fresh off a 76-73 win over Auburn, Arkansas will now take on Texas A&M in the SEC Tournament. These teams already played twice this year, splitting the series 1-1 based on who played at home. Now on a neutral court, Arkansas holds some value as an underdog, despite playing yesterday.

The X-factor in this matchup could be Nick Smith. Playing just four minutes in the two previous meetings, the potential NBA lottery pick has jumped back into the starting lineup, playing 30+ minutes per game. Per EvanMiya, Smith is the most efficient scorer on this team, which should help close the gap between Texas A&M’s 61st ranked offense and Arkansas’ 121st. Interstingly, both teams turn the ball over frequently and have a propensity to get into foul trouble. Now fully healthy, Arkansas possesses the depth advantage to win late in games as well.
