College Basketball Betting Picks & Odds | March 9

College Basketball Odds: Iowa State vs. Baylor (-4.5)

Despite coming in as the four seed in the Big12, Baylor actually dropped both of their regular season games to Iowa State this year. However, it looks like Baylor could be due for some serious positive regression. Iowa State won the first game 77-62. However, ShotQuality scored the game as a victory for Baylor. Conversely, Iowa State won the first game on the actual court an analytically. With that said, ShotQuality also indicated that the game should have been much closer.

From a personnel standpoint, Iowa State will again play without Caleb Grill. While this may not have mattered much in the most recent game, Grill still grades out as Iowa State’s second most valuable player on the year, per EvanMiya‘s BPR. Baylor will also play this game without Langston Love, but that absence comes at a position of depth for Baylor behind their three elite guards Keyonte GeorgeAdam Flagler, and LJ Cryer. With Baylor taking money, now looks like the time to buy in on the Bears.

College Basketball Odds: Providence vs. Connecticut O/U 143.5

After splitting the regular season 1-1, Providence and UConn will once again do battle in the Big East quarterfinals. Rather than looking at an efficient side, the under has taken money to open the day. The previous two matchups played to 134 and 156 points. However, ShotQuality scored the second game at 67-76, pointing to regression towards the under.

Stylistically, both teams appear to play fast, averaging more than the league average in possessions per game. While UConn remains an uptempo team, Providence has actually slowed their pace to a crawl. Since February 1st, Providence ranks 253rd in overall pace. A reduced pace from Providence combined with UConn’s 11th ranked defense points to an under here.

College Basketball Expert Betting Pick: Under 143.5 (-110) at BetMGM

College Basketball Odds: TCU vs. Kansas State (+2.5)

A series split 1-1 during the regular season, TCU and Kansas State match up for a third time in the Big12 quarterfinals. Both previous games featured blowout victories for the home team. However, now playing on a neutral court, Kansas State looks like the sharper side of this bet.

First of all, TCU big man Eddie Lampkin left the team. According to EvanMiya’s BPR rating, Lampkin ranks as the second most valueable player to this team. Not only that, but he provides key size. Without him, TCU will be left with a number of rotational bigs like Xavier Cork and JaKobe Coles, who stand 6-9 and 6-7 each. On the other side, Kansas State plays with elite size behind Nae’Qwan TomlinDavid N’Guessan, and Ish Massoud, who all stand at least 6-9. On top of that, Kansas State possesses elite shooters in Markquis NowellKeyontae Johnson, and Massoud himself, who all shoot at least 35% from three.

College Basketball Expert Betting Pick: Kansas State +2.5 (-115) at BetMGM
