Let’s start with the least likely of our parlay’s three legs. We’re backing the No. 23 Oklahoma Sooners to cover in a big road game versus the Kansas State Wildcats. The Sooners are coming off a disappointing string of home losses, one to unranked Texas and the other to No. 15 Texas Tech. Although tonight’s game is on the road, it’s a fantastic get-right spot for the Sooners.
This year, Kansas State has gone just 5-6 against the spread (ATS) at home and an even worse 1-4 ATS against ranked opponents. Like Oklahoma, they’re also coming off a string of bitter losses, one to No. 12 Iowa State and another to No. 4 Houston. The Wildcats couldn’t keep either game competitive and lost both by a double-digit margin, failing to cover as 8.5-point dogs and 15-point dogs, respectively.
Advanced stats suggest Oklahoma should cover. Bart Torvik’s projections list Oklahoma as a 0.7-point dog with outright odds of 47%. That’s better than where the betting market is taking action on the Sooners, making them the first leg of today’s college basketball parlay.
North Carolina Moneyline (College Basketball Parlay Picks)
The No. 3 North Carolina Tar Heels will visit the unranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as an 8.5-point road favorite. The Tar Heels are 17-3, suffering losses to Villanova, No. 9 Kentucky and No. 1 UConn. Last year’s UNC team rolled Tech by 16 points, and a similar outcome could be in the cards tonight.
UNC ranks a dominant sixth in KenPom, far ahead of their overmatched opponents who rank 134th. An upset isn’t impossible, but it’s less likely than what the market would have you think. UNC is undefeated on the road this year. While Georgia Tech is an impressive 2-1 versus ranked opponents this year, UNC is another beast.
Bart Torvik’s projections make UNC a 10.8-point road favorite, two points on top of where the market is taking action. Their win probability of 84% slightly outpaces their -485 (82.9%) moneyline odds. That’s enough value to add UNC’s moneyline to today’s college basketball parlay.
Loyola-Chicago Moneyline (College Basketball Parlay Picks)
We’re trusting Oklahoma head coach Porter Moser’s new team to cover, but we’re backing his old team to win outright. The Loyola-Chicago Ramblers will host the Saint Louis Billikens tonight, and the home team is a 9.5-point favorite for the matchup. Loyola-Chicago isn’t ranked, but the program is a steady 125th in KenPom and 121st in NET Rating, far ahead of Saint Louis, who you’ll find at 233rd and 246th, respectively.
Again, Bart Torvik’s projections are a key source of edge here. His model favors Loyola-Chicago by 10.4, giving them a win probability of 84%. With their moneyline odds also trading at -485 (82.9%), we’re getting just enough edge to warrant adding the Ramblers to our parlay. Upsets aren’t impossible, but Saint Louis is 2-4 ATS on the road, failing to cover by an average margin of 5.7. We just need them to lose straight up.
