As Jim ‘ Mattress Mack’ McIngvale is finding out, you can’t win em all. In fact, the Houston area mattress mogul lost very, very badly on his TCU moneyline bet in the College Football National Championship.

Mattress Mack Loses Big on TCU Moneyline

Just after TCU pulled off the thrilling win over Michigan in the semifinals, McIngvale rushed to put a $3 million bet on TCU to win at +370 odds in Louisiana. But as the Horned Frogs were getting torched by Georgia Monday, a video of a dejected Mattress Mack taking in the action went viral on the web.

Mattress Mack has made a habit out of placing incredibly large wagers on Houston area sports teams and using them as promotions for his furniture store.

“If the Frogs come out on top, you’ll get 2X your money back on your qualifying Tempur-Pedic, Sealy, Stearns, and Foster mattress set $3,000 or more when you buy and take immediate delivery,” the promotion from the Gallery Furniture website stated.

But it’s not all bad for Mattress Mack. When he used his betting tactic throughout the Houston Astros’ World Series run, he was rewarded with $75 Million haul when they beat the Philadelphia Phillies in six games to win the championship. McIngvale even threw out the first pitch in one of the games at Minute Made Park.

Just last month, McIngvale placed $1 Million on the Houston Cougars to win the March Madness tournament in college basketball at 8-1 odds. After their 71-59 win over Cincinnati on Sunday, the Cougars are now 16-1 on the season and have taken over as the No. 1 ranked team in the nation. Per DraftKings, Houston is the betting favorite at +650 to cut down the nets at the end of the season.

For Mattress Mack, the TCU moneyline bet made for an incredibly bad evening on Monday. But rest assured, there will be better days ahead…
