Isaiah McKenzie Injury News: Will Bills Get the Wideout Back?

Buffalo Bills receiver Isaiah McKenzie missed the Wild Card Round against the Miami Dolphins last weekend, but it appears that he’ll be good to go in the Divisional Round matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals this weekend. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, McKenzie returned from his hamstring injury and was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice.

What Isaiah McKenzie‘s Injury News Means For Bengals-Bills

The Bills offense will be getting a boost with the re-insertion of Isaiah McKenzie into the lineup. The speedy receiver notched a career-high 42 receptions for 423 yards and four touchdowns this season. McKenzie taking over his spot as the top slot receiver for Buffalo likely means less playing time for veteran Cole Beasley and Khalil Shakir in the Divisional Round.

Shakir caught three passes for 51 yards with Beasley adding two receptions for 35 yards and a touchdown in the win over the Dolphins. It was the first time Beasley caught a touchdown in the playoffs.

“Yeah, it’s about time. It only took me 11 years,” Beasley told the media, per Syracuse.com. “I’m just happy it could come in today’s game and I could contribute.”

It was far from smooth sailing for Josh Allen and the Bills offense in the first round. Despite jumping out to a 17-0 lead against the Dolphins, Allen threw two interceptions down the stretch and the Bills barely eked out a 34-31 win as a heavy favorite. Adding McKenzie back to the mix should prove to help the Bills find more of a rhythm on offense this Sunday, but Allen is expecting a better performance out of himself regardless.

“I mean, the turnovers, they hurt us,” Allen said, per the team’s YouTube Channel. “Really let them back in the game. Up 17-0 with chances, and I give them the ball two times and give them a touchdown, it’s just things you can’t do. And you can’t expect to win like that, so some stuff to clean up.”

Per DraftKings, the Bills are currently a five-point favorite over the Bengals at home.
