Bengals-Chiefs AFC Championship Line Movements: A New Favorite Takes Over

The Cincinnati Bengals have taken over as the favorites to reach their second-straight Super Bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs opened as the favorite after the Bengals defeated the Buffalo Bills to set up a rematch of the 2022 AFC Championship, but that dynamic quickly changed less than 24 hours later. The latest Bengals-Chiefs betting line might come as a surprise to some bettors.

Cincinnati came into the Divisional Round matchup against the Bills as a 5.5-point underdog, and quarterback Joe Burrow showed why his team deserves respect. He completed 23 of 36 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns in a snowy Highmark Stadium.

“I don’t know,” wide receiver Tee Higgins said to SI when asked how Burrow pulled off the performance in spite of wintry conditions. “I was shocked at what he was doing. He threw that Hail Mary so far. I’m like, bro, but man, it’s good to have a quarterback that can come out in the snow and sling it. I’m proud of him. I’m proud of the way he played, but I’m gonna give credit to the run game to our O-Line tonight. They played a hell of a game.”

The Bengals-Chiefs betting line movement may have something to do with the injury Patrick Mahomes suffered in the win over the Jaguars. The star quarterback limped through the second half and was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain after the contest. He expressed confidence that he would be able to suit up this weekend, but head coach Andy Reid said Monday that the team would continue to monitor the injury throughout the week.

“He’s worked hard in the treatment and is doing OK,” Reid said of Mahomes, per ESPN. “He mentioned it to you that he’s going to play. That’s his mindset, and then we’ll just take it day by day and see how he does.”

The Bengals won a thriller over the Chiefs 27-24 in overtime of last year’s AFC Championship. They’ll look to pull off the road upset at Arrowhead Stadium once again. Be sure to check OddsShopper’s tools for the best Bengals-Chiefs betting line throughout the week.
