Best Cowboys-Buccaneers Player Props: Ryan Succop Stinks It Up

Super Wild Card weekend will conclude with an NFC showdown between the NFC East runners-up, the Dallas Cowboys, and the NFC South winners, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. These two teams squared off in Week 1 in a game the Buccaneers won, 19-3. However, the Cowboys ended the year at 12-5, while the Buccaneers finished a lowly 8-9. Bettors looking for an edge for tonight’s Cowboys-Buccaneers game should tail this NFL player prop for Ryan Succop.

No player in tonight’s game stands out more than Tom Brady. He will put his 7-0 career record against the Cowboys on the line on Monday Night to determine who will advance to the divisional round and face the San Francisco 49ers. But it’s his kicker, Ryan Succop, who offers the most value on betting markets. For more NFL bets and NFL player props, be sure to check out the OddsShopper tools.

Best Cowboys-Buccaneers Player Prop for Monday Night Football

Ryan Succop Prop O/U 6.5 Kicking Points

The 36-year-old kicker is in his 14th season and his third with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Succop has had an interesting campaign this year. The Buccaneers have called him out to attempt 38 field goals, far more than the 30 and 31 kicks he attempted in his prior two seasons. However, his extra-point numbers pop out: Succop attempted 59 extra points last season in 17 games but only 25 this season.

The Buccaneers rank 11th-worst in red-zone touchdown efficiency. In contrast, the Cowboys top the league at 71%. The Tom Brady-led Buccaneers will need to score touchdowns tonight to compete with the efficient Dallas offense. That will limit Succop’s workload.

This bet comes down to Tampa Bay scoring in the red zone when they get down there. But even if the Buccaneers can’t finish drives, Succop has converted only 81% of his field goals. That ranks ninth worst in the league for kickers who have attempted at least 20.

Succop has fared even worse at home. He has gone 14-for-19 with four misses coming from 50-plus yards out. The Buccaneers will most likely side with the greatest quarterback of all time if they find themselves in a position where Succop would have to attempt a long-range kick.

Succop stayed under this line in 9 of his 17 games this season, including seven of his last eight. Succop has missed 5 for 11 field goals in his last five games — and an extra point! If Dallas’ talented offense can score early, look for Brady to stay on the field on most fourth-and-short opportunities.
