Brock Purdy Fantasy Football Ranking & Analysis: Is 49ers QB Worth Waiver Wire Pickup?

Is Brock Purdy a potential fantasy football option for Week 15? Let’s take a look at Brock Purdy‘s fantasy football ranking and analysis ahead of the San Francisco 49ers game at the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football to gauge his value as a potential target on the waiver wire.

Brock Purdy Fantasy Football Week 15

Per the Stokastic weekly quarterback rankings, Brock Purdy ranks as the No. 26 quarterback on the board for Week 15. That rates as a non-option, per projections. Purdy projects to have 15.21 fantasy points, using the free player compare tool,

There is also some uncertainty surrounding Purdy’s availability. The Wednesday injury report revealed he is questionable for the TNF game while dealing with oblique and rib injuries. If he is unable to go, it will be journeyman quarterback Josh Johnson under center for San Francisco.

The Brock Purdy story is one of the better ones of this NFL season. After being drafted as “Mr. Irrelevant” (last overall selection) in the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy entered the season as the third-stringer behind Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo. Following injuries to those QBs, it’s been Purdy for the 49ers past two weeks.

Despite uneasiness from 49ers fans in the team going to an unknown rookie to try to keep their Super Bowl hopes alive, Purdy has put their worries at ease. He has played solid football in wins over the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, completing 67.2% of his passes with four touchdown and two interceptions, adding one rushing touchdown.

“It was really impressive how he played. I thought it was similar to the week before,” 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said after Week 14, via NBC Sports. “He reacts and runs around and makes some plays.

“Brock’s skill set and what he does, [we] don’t have a ton of designed quarterback runs and stuff, but maybe we need to. He moved pretty well today.”

Brock Purdy has gone a long way since being slept on in the draft and remains a great story. While there’s no reason to believe he can’t execute the 49ers offense at an adequate level, he doesn’t project as much of a fantasy football option going forward.
