Buccaneers-Lions Player Prop Pick

Sam LaPorta O/U 41.5 Receiving Yards

Sam LaPorta has miraculously recovered from a knee injury sustained in Week 18 when Head Coach Dan Campbell decided to run the starters the whole game. LaPorta not only played in the Lions Wild Card win against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football last week but also played 80% of the snaps. He reeled in all three of his targets for 14 yards. With another week to recover, this feels like a great spot to back LaPorta, as books are offering a soft number on his receiving yards line.

The 45 snaps that LaPorta saw last week were highly encouraging. His knee must feel good enough to play virtually the whole game as the Lions offense rolled once again. The books have slowly moved LaPorta’s catches to 4.5, which indicates that they expect him to be heavily involved in this offense come Sunday. During the regular season, LaPorta reeled in eight catches of at least 20+ yards, which shows his explosive potential. Pivoting to LaPorta’s yards, even with him banged up, is a good investment, as he’s over this line in 10 of the first 18 games of his career.

From the Buccaneers point of view, tight ends have shredded them all season long. They allowed the second most yards to the position per game, including allowing nine tight ends to surpass 42 yards. LaPorta and the Lions battled the Buccaneers earlier in the season, which resulted in LaPorta being targeted 11 times for just 36 yards. Look for the Buccaneers secondary to hone in Amon-Ra St. Brown, who has been a matchup nightmare throughout the season.

Buccaneers-Lions Anytime Touchdown Scorer Pick

It’s difficult to find much value in primetime games when most of the elite players are heavily juiced to score a touchdown. The books are smart. They know bettors will put touchdown scorers in their parlays no matter how much vig is attached to the prop. On FanDuel, you’ll find nearly four players in Buccaneers-Lions at either -odds or even money, but thanks to OddsShopper’s tools, they let you filter touchdown prices and found one major book that has Rachaad White at plus-money to score a touchdown. Caesars Sportsbook is where you’ll want to bet on Rachaad White to score a touchdown on Sunday.

The Lions run defense has been one of the biggest surprises in the NFL this season. They’re allowing the second-fewest yards on the ground, including completely shutting down the Rams’ run game last week that featured Kyren Williams, who rushed for the third-most yards this season. But backing one of the better-performing backs this season at plus money in a win-or-go-home game sounds great.

White scored nine touchdowns on the season while ranking in the top 20 in rush attempts inside the red zone. White’s 3.6 yards per carry may not be encouraging for bettors, but he’s an elite pass-catcher out of the backfield. His 67 catches rank in the top five amongst running backs on the season – three of which resulted in touchdowns.

White won’t be the sexy pick to score a touchdown in Buccaneers-Lions with names like David MontgomeryAmon-Ra St. Brown, and Mike Evans playing, but to get White at plus-money while the rest of the major market has him slated at around -110 is enormous when betting long term.
