Philadelphia is working on a two-game lead with a tiebreaker against Washington, the only remaining hurdle in the NFC East. The Eagles will be without one of their top weapons on offense, as DeVonta Smith was ruled out to start the weekend. While that shouldn’t impact the line nor the Eagles chances at covering, it does open a spot for another player to score. The Rams have a few chalk targets. Sure, one could get into the end zone, but the Eagles have done truly well against the pass game, specifically holding their own on the outside. The Rams could get Kyren Williams in the end zone rather quickly, but they seem to move away from the run game in favor of Matthew Stafford, especially when down even a little bit.

The best option is on Philadelphia for both an increased target share and the matchup. Dallas Goedert stands to benefit the most with Smith out tonight. The Eagles tight end sees a dramatic increase in targets without one of Jalen Hurts‘ favorite targets. In fact, Goedert basically assumes the role of him and Smith in most games played without the latter. That should pick right up tonight against a Rams defense not great against the tight end position.

The Rams gave up 40-plus receiving yards to tight ends in at least six games this year — including a couple back-to-back. That is not great for matchup that’s expected to see more targets for Goedert. The issue of trust has been brought up surrounding Hurts and any wide receiver not named Smith or A.J. Brown, but that should be of little concern here as there’s already been an established connection with Hurts and Goedert — including two games this season away from home.
