Best Giants-Lions Parlay: One Huge Advantage at a Key Position Driving Value Tonight

There is something magical about the return to the National Football League, even if it is a short-lived introduction to Week 1 of the preseason. It does not matter how many backup quarterbacks come across the broadcast and hit the field because it’s football — not that fake football from all of those different leagues, this is the real thing. There is one huge factor in the Giants-Lions preseason game that simply cannot be ignored. It is the main reason taking a side and combining it with a total is the only way to play this game. Best Giants-Lions Parlay: One Huge Advantage at a Key Position

The Detroit Lions can score points. They certainly found a method and were one of the highest-scoring teams last year in the entire league. Conversely, they gave up a ton of points. That is who they are, and a couple of joint practices or OTAs simply are not going to change that. Neither is going to their backups for the majority of a football game. See the pattern? Detroit will be giving the lion’s share of reps — sorry — to Nate Sudfeld, a journeyman third-string quarterback who usually signals the end of a season if he is starting any actual game. The other side is the key to success for tonight’s bet and why the Giants are the play. Tyrod Taylor is one of the top backup arms in the NFL and should be getting the majority of reps for the Giants. The offense does not change much from Daniel Jones to Taylor, so unlike Detroit, the Giants will not change a lot of their gameplan and execution for their backup.

New York is 16-5 against the spread as preseason underdogs and 12-7-1 against the spread in preseason openers on the road. That is strong, combined with a brutal stretch by the Lions in Week 1 games of the preseason, especially an 0-4 run. Between Taylor and the Lions propensity to give up points, the only way to play this is backing the Giants to win and score some points.
