Is Zach Wilson a Fantasy Football Option? Rankings & Analysis for Week 15

With the breaking news that Mike White (rib) has been ruled out for the Jets-Lions matchup on Sunday, fantasy managers are looking to Zach Wilson in DFS contests as a low-rostered option. So, is the second-year QB worth a flier in a potential breakout game?

Zach Wilson‘s Fantasy Football Outlook

Wilson, who was selected with the No. 2 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has gotten off to a rocky start in his career with 13 TD’s and 16 INT’s in 20 career games (8-12 record over the span). The stats leave much to be desired in fantasy and DFS alike, with Wilson struggling to maintain any consistency this season throwing for 1,279 yards with a 55.5 completion percentage and four TD’s and five INT’s.

Taking a flier on him may be a long shot in DFS, but when looking at their opponent, the Detroit Lions, there’s a case to be made. Detroit’s defense has allowed the third-most passing yards against (3,424), including the third-highest average of 263.4 yards per game. Those numbers alone make Wilson look like a viable option in DFS, and perhaps even poised to have his long-anticipated breakout performance.

Zach Wilson‘s Fantasy, DFS Projection

Stokastic’s premium DFS data, projects Wilson for 16.68 fantasy points against Detroit on Sunday. This projection makes Wilson the 14th-ranked QB on the slate, and he comes in with one of the better value prices at $5,100. While it’s certainly a long shot, DFS owners looking for a contrarian, or low-rostered percentage play, could work Wilson into a few lineups this Sunday.

Another favorable stat for Wilson, is his career home splits where he throws for an average of 221.1 yards per game, compared to 147.5 yds/game during away games.

It’s beginning to look like Wilson might be a viable play after all, and his potential of breaking the slate against a below-average defense is plausible.
