Marvin Harrison Jr. Declares: What Are His 2024 NFL Draft Odds?

Star Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. officially declared for the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday afternoon. The move came as no surprise, but with some other big-name players like Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers sticking it out for another year — and USC quarterback (and first overall pick favorite) Caleb Williams yet to declare — the 2024 NFL Draft markets are getting interesting. Let’s dive into the 2024 NFL Draft odds for Marvin Harrison Jr. following his official declaration for the draft.

Marvin Harrison Jr. First Overall Pick Odds: +1500 at DraftKings

Despite the massive amount of hype surrounding Marvin Harrison Jr. — and despite the Chicago Bears, not seen as the quarterback-neediest of teams, earning the first overall pick in this year’s draft — the Ohio State superstar isn’t expected to be the first player taken off the board.

Clocking in with odds shorter than Harrison is USC’s Caleb Williams, a talented quarterback prospect who has often earned comparisons to superstar Patrick Mahomes. Although Williams’ USC teams never made it to a College Football Playoff game, plenty of blame falls on head coach Lincoln Riley and former defensive coordinator Alex Grinch. Williams’ first-overall pick odds sit at just -800 even though he hasn’t declared for the draft yet.

Behind Williams is another quarterback, UNC star Drake Maye. Maye emerged out of seemingly nowhere during the 2022 campaign, leading UNC to a solid 9-5 record and a Holiday Bowl appearance the year after Sam Howell left in the draft. Things started well for Maye and the Tar Heels this season before unraveling down the stretch. At odds of +500, Maye, like Harrison, isn’t expected to compete with Williams for the honors of the first player off the board — but he has the best shot of anyone to do so.

Only one other player owns first-overall pick odds shorter than Harrison for the 2024 NFL Draft: LSU’s Jayden Daniels. Daniels, who led college football in passing efficiency by a massive margin — and who led all quarterbacks in total rushing yardage with 1,134 — clocks in at +1000 odds to be the first player taken off the board. His Tigers finished the regular season at only 9-3, but not for a lack of effort from Daniels. LSU’s defense ranked an atrocious 99th in yards allowed per play (6) and 124th in expected points added (EPA) allowed per play.

First Non-QB Selected Odds: -380 at DraftKings

Although Marvin Harrison Jr. isn’t expected to be the first player taken in the 2024 NFL Draft, he is expected to be the first non-quarterback player selected. Marvin Harrison Jr. owns 2024 NFL Draft odds of -380 on that market, which computes to an implied probability of 72.2%.

Possible landing spots for Harrison include the Arizona Cardinals, who own the second overall pick and desperately need a big-bodied boundary wide receiver to pair with quarterback Kyler Murray, or the Chicago Bears, who own both the first and ninth overall picks and have a solid quarterback in Justin Fields.

The player with the next-best odds on this market is Florida State defensive lineman Jared Verse at +400. Verse recorded nine sacks in both of his last two seasons for the Seminoles, adding 88 total tackles, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and two passes defended. Offensive tackles Olumuyiwa Fashanu (Penn State) and Joe Alt (Michigan) round out the top four at odds of +600 and +900, respectively. The
