The NFL turns the page to Week 3 of the season, which means another another weeks of survivor picks. There still are no byes, and it being so early in the season, almost every team is still available in pools. Last week didn’t see much drama, with the Broncos probably being the team that eliminated the most people. Outside of Denver, it was smooth sailing for most favorites, meaning most survived and advanced. For Week 3, there are some gigantic favorites across the league, so let’s dive into some NFL survivor picks.

49ers (-10.5) vs. Giants | NFL Survivor Week 3

Those who was to sit back and relax on Sunday should maybe go ahead and target San Francisco on Thursday Night Football. It’s a pretty easy case to make for what many believe to be the best team in the NFL, as the 49ers are 2-0 and get their first home game of the season. Quarterback Brock Purdy has every weapon one could ask for, and they seem like a well-oiled machine early in the season. They welcome in a Giants team that needed a huge rally to beat lowly Arizona, and it makes sense that San Francisco is a double-digit favorite. Add in that Saquon Barkley is out with an ankle injury, and the chances of the upset get even lower for the Giants in this spot.

It’s clear the 49ers should comfortably win here, but it’s not just about Week 3. Looking ahead, there are plenty of spots to target San Francisco this year, including two matchups with Arizona in the future. For this reason, it makes more sense to save the 49ers for a future week and preserve maybe the best team to have available in survivor.

Chiefs (-13) vs. Bears | NFL Survivor Week 3

There are some massive favorites this week, and the Chiefs are towards the top of that list. They are around -800 on the moneyline as they welcome in the struggling Bears to Arrowhead. Kansas City is coming off a hard-fought, quality road win in Jacksonville, and Travis Kelce and Chris Jones had immediate impacts for the Chiefs. Now the Chiefs draw a 0-2 Bears team that has a lot more questions than answers, including with Justin Fields. It’s only two games, but three interceptions and 10 sacks are both major red flags for a quarterback many expected to make a big leap this season. The Bears may salvage and rally this year, but it’s hard to imagine them going into Arrowhead and emerging with a win.

Like with San Francisco, it’s not about if the Chiefs will win in Week 4 but the tax that comes with using them. They don’t have the Cardinals on the schedule, but home against Denver and Las Vegas and a road game with the Jets are a few spots in the future where Kansas City should be a sizeable favorite. The Chiefs are a better play than the 49ers this week, but for larger pools, both should be preserved for future weeks.

Jaguars (-8.5) vs. Texans | NFL Survivor Week 3

Based on moneylines for these three teams, the Chiefs are the most likely winner, followed by San Francisco and then Jacksonville. Even though the Jaguars are technically the riskiest of the three, they set up the best for the long run. They are still north of a touchdown favorite at home against the Houston Texans. Now, divisional games in survivor can be a little precarious, but the Jaguars do not have a ton of great spots in the future. They do get Carolina at home, but that is all the way in late December, so it’s hard to plan that far in advance.

Jacksonville is coming off a tough loss, but Kansas City coming to town always presents that possibility. The Jaguars had their chances but were unable to capitalize in the red zone and mustered only 9 points total. That should change against a Texans defense that surrendered 25 and 31 points in its first two games. Furthering the issues is Houston’s run game, which has done nothing this season and comes into Week 3 averaging just 2.5 yards a carry. If that doesn’t change, there is almost no way the Texans will go into Jacksonville and steal this win.
