NFL Thursday Night Football Odds and Props: Best No House Advantage Plays, Including JuJu Smith-Schuster & Patrick Mahomes

This week’s Thursday Night Football matchup is a doozy. Two AFC teams with their sights set on the Super Bowl will face off when the Kansas City Chiefs host the Los Angeles Chargers. This exciting game also brings another opportunity to play on No House Advantage. There are two types of contests to play, “Pick ‘Em” and “Vs The House.” Let’s try to help narrow down the field by highlighting some props to target.

NFL Thursday Night Football Odds and Props: No House Advantage

JuJu Smith-Schuster: Over 50.5 Receiving Yards

With Tyreek Hill no longer in town, the Chiefs had a massive void to fill at wide receiver. While he’s not the same type of explosive player as Hill, Smith-Schuster takes over his role as the team’s top wide receiver. He certainly received an upgrade at quarterback, going from Ben Roethlisberger to Patrick Mahomes. As good as Roethlisberger was at his peak, he’s been a shell of his former self in recent seasons.

Smith-Schuster exploded out of the gate in Week 1, catching six passes for 79 yards. He was targeted eight times in the blowout win over the Cardinals, which was the second-most on the team behind Travis Kelce. In what should be a high-scoring game between two of the best quarterbacks in the league, look for Smith-Schuster to produce another juicy stat line. The NFL Player Props Tool projects Smith-Schuster to record 62.23 yards receiving.

Travis Kelce: Over 79.5 Receiving Yards

Kelce made the most of his nine targets in Week 1, turning them into 121 yards and a touchdown. With Hill gone, Kelce could be as busy as ever. That’s saying something for a guy who has received at least 122 targets in each of the last five seasons.

Kelce has a long history of doing damage against the Chargers. Last year, he produced 104 yards receiving against them in Week 3, then followed that up with 191 yards receiving in their Week 15 matchup. In both games, he was targeted at least 11 times. Expect another heavy workload in their first meeting this season.

Patrick Mahomes: Over 295.5 Passing Yards

Mahomes didn’t skip a beat in his first game without Hill. He picked apart the Cardinals’ defense, completing 30-of-39 passes for 360 yards and five touchdowns. Mahomes exploding in Week 1 is nothing new. Last year, he posted 337 yards and three touchdowns against the Browns. While he had a modest 211 yards against the Texans in Week 1 of 2020, he had three touchdown passes in a lopsided victory.

Over the last two seasons, Mahomes has played in three of the Chiefs’ four games against the Chargers. He threw for at least 300 yards in two of those games, including a whopping 410 yards in Week 15 last year. With the expectation that this is a high-scoring contest, Mahomes should thrive. The NFL Player Props Tool projects Mahomes to finish with 305.43 yards.

Patrick Mahomes: Over 2.5 Passing Touchdowns

Mahomes’ five touchdown passes might seem like a lofty total, but he also finished with that many two times during the regular season last year, and another time during the playoffs. He has recorded at least three touchdown passes in each of his last three games against the Chargers. Last season, he started off with four straight games with at least three scores through the air. Take the over.
