Patrick Mahomes Props: Bettors Fading Chiefs Quarterback in AFC Championship

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes continues his rehab from a high ankle sprain suffered in the win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Divisional Round on Saturday. The Patrick Mahomes player props for this weekend’s AFC Championship against the Cincinnati Bengals have come into question in wake of the injury. Sure enough, bettors are heavily fading the superstar quarterback.

Patrick Mahomes Props: Bettors Fading Injured QB

Per BetMGM‘s John Ewing, the Patrick Mahomes passing yards prop of 273.5 yards (-110) has bettors hammering the under. The under on the Patrick Mahomes prop has the highest action of any player prop for the Conference Championship round. Per the report, 68% of the money has come in on the under.

Mahomes participated fully in Wednesday’s Chiefs practice ahead of the Conference Championship and said his ankle feels much better than Saturday.

“It’s doing good. I had a few days of treatment and a few days of rehab. I’m excited to go on the practice field and test it out, and see where I’m at. But it’s feeling good so far,” Mahomes said during a press conference before practice, per USA Today.

Mahomes finished the win over the Jaguard completing 22 of 30 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns. He led the NFL with 308.8 passing yards per game during the regular season, but only threw for 223 yards in a loss to the Bengals in Week 14. Mahomes threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns in last year’s AFC title game against the Bengals, but fell apart in the second half, allowing Cincy to mount an 11-point comeback.

The rematch will allow Mahomes the opportunity to get some revenge, and he’s not going to let an ankle injury foil his plans to suit up, or his weekly preparation. Bettors are starting to fade the Patrick Mahomes props with the chips stacked against the likely MVP Award winner, which could wind up being a poor decision.
