Saquon Barkley Injury Update: Is New York’s Star Playing Sunday?

Saquon Barkley Injury Update

Latest Saquon Barkley Injury Update (October 15 at 9:32 AM): The Giants are optimistic the RB will play.

Unfortunately for the New York Giants, star running back Saquon Barkley is still working through an ankle injury. He has yet to play since injuring his ankle against the Arizona Cardinals. Barkley was a limited participant in practice all week. He was also a limited participant in practice all week before Weeks 4 and 5 as well, so those limited reps haven’t proven especially meaningful.

Head coach Brian Daboll has been non-committal about Barkley’s status. “He’s closer, he’s closer again. We’ll take it all the way up to the end of the week,” he told reporters. Daboll designated Barkley as questionable. Barkley himself added that “each week [I have] been trending upwards,” and the Giants described the situation as a “holding pattern.”

Is Saquon Barkley Playing for New York in Week 6?

So is Saquon Barkley playing for the New York Giants in Week 6’s edition of Sunday Night Football? The Giants are reportedly “optimistic” and “hopeful” that Barkley will suit up for Sunday Night Football, according to Adam Schefter:

If Barkley does suit up, he won’t have much help against the Buffalo Bills. The Giants have already ruled out starting left tackle Andrew Thomas and starting center John Michael Schmitz. Quarterback Daniel Jones is also out. Tight end Darren Waller picked up a questionable tag. The Bills rank only 24th in expected points added (EPA) allowed per rush attempt but also rank ninth in run-stop win rate (33%).
