Aaron Rodgers-Jets Odds Surge After Nathaniel Hackett Hire

PointsBet Sportsbook tweeted out the updated Aaron Rodgers next team odds after the Jets made the Nathaniel Hackett hire official. Aaron Rodgers (+175) is now the favorite begin the season under center for the Jets. He’s followed by Derek Carr (+300), Jimmy Garoppolo (+450), Mike White (+600), Lamar Jackson (+600), Tom Brady (+750) and Zach Wilson (+850).

Hackett was Rodgers’ offensive coordinator when he won back-to-back MVP Trophies in 2020 and 2021.

“It’s bittersweet losing Nathaniel just because I love him like a brother,” Rodgers said after Hackett took the Broncos job, per Washington Post. “He’s an amazing, amazing guy.”

Rodgers signed a contract extension with the Packers last offseason, but once again sent cryptic messages about his future when the Packers were eliminated from postseason contention with a Week 18 loss to the Detroit Lions.

“If there’s a rebuild ahead, I won’t be a part of it,” Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show,” later adding: “There’s no point in coming back to play football unless you think you can win it all.”

Reports surfaced earlier in the week that the Packers would exclusively entertain trade proposals from AFC teams, not wanting to trade their prized asset to an NFC competitor. The Jets certainly check that box, and with second-year quarterback Zach Wilson turning in another dismal performance this season, it makes sense that they would go all-in on Rodgers.

The Jets began the 2022-23 season 6-3, with the defense leading the charge in their resurgent start. But thanks in large part to poor quarterback play, the Jets lost their last six games of the season to finish 7-10 and miss out on the postseason. The latest Aaron Rodgers-Jets odds indicate “Gang Green” could look to the future Hall of Famer to fill their void at the quarterback position, and hiring Nathaniel Hackett may very well be the first step in that pursuit.
