Why the Cleveland Browns Will Win the Super Bowl

Joe Flacco is on one heck of a revival tour. The Browns were left for dead losing starter after starter, from Nick Chubb to Deshaun Watson. Now it’s Ol’ Flacco and his 10-5 playoff record — including a Super Bowl win — leading the charge against the new guard in Houston. Cleary the Browns have relied on their defense to carry through offensive struggles and injuries, and they open up the postseason on the road against one of the brightest young stars the league has seen in quite some time. Flacco is not the only one motivated to cement a legacy, and this Browns team is live to cause some chaos. Here are the Browns Super Bowl odds and why they can win the whole thing.

Browns Super Bowl Picks and Info

Flacco helped fuel one of the greatest postseason runs with Baltimore where he was at times unconscious. Granted, it’s a few years removed from that amazing stretch, but Flacco is out to cement one thing: A Hall of Fame blazer. Watching players like Eli Manning do it is all the motivation for an already entrenched and comfortable Flacco.

Coming into the final week of the season, the Browns were second in defensive EPA and seventh overall. Their offense has gone through ebbs and flows, or ups and downs — OK, struggles — but they found consistent play and leadership from Flacco.

Don’t underestimate the power of a good and focused quarterback with the entire defense behind him.

Some teams in the NFL playoffs are looking back over their shoulder before talking about their quarterbacks, including the guys on defense. There’s extreme value in having a punishing defense know that even one mistake isn’t the end of the world. To be fair, Stroud has earned that in just one season, but things change fast for rookies in the playoffs.

Joe Flacco, two-time Super Bowl Champion has a nice ring to it, and the Browns are still not anywhere near odds-on favorites to win this thing. We’ve already seen him get hot before in the postseason, combined with the stretch he had this year for the Browns.

If anything, Myles Garrett and Jim Schwartz are more empowered to take some risks on defense, with an offense that can at least move the ball in the air.

Flacco is stellar on the road too, so fear not. He enters with a 9-3 road record against the spread in the playoffs.

Cleveland Browns Final Super Bowl Prediction

The Browns start on the road for what would be a long trek to Las Vegas, but don’t count out this team quite yet. They currently sit 30-1 to leapfrog a bunch of other teams in the AFC, most notably teams that would host a playoff game between the two squads. Flacco is no stranger to winning on the road, as noted above.

The other big misnomer about the Browns defense this year was its inability to travel. While Schwartz’s splits in the past have been noticeable between home and away games, this year was a much slimmer gap. Some of it was opponent, but most of it was a lack of overall dropoff from pressure to results.

That’s going to be huge if the Browns are pushing their way through road games to make it to Vegas.

The biggest challenge will come in the form of the Baltimore Ravens, but no need to jump that far yet. In fact, if the Browns are in Baltimore for the AFC Championship, there’s already hedge opportunities. A top-ranked defense against a rookie quarterback — no matter how special he was in the regular season — is an advantage for the D, especially with a Super Bowl-winning coordinator. Flacco is good enough to throw on Houston, and the Browns should advance.

Their future opponents could come in the form of Buffalo or Kansas City, each a difficult place to play primarily due to weather in January. It is hard to think that will impact a Browns team rather used to miserable winter conditions. If anything, their offense is less impacted or reliant on sunny days than at least the Chiefs. Kansas City has had plenty of mental mistakes that could return at any moment, and the Bills are riding Josh Allen while hoping he too doesn’t implode.

It’s not as far of a leap for this team to just make it to the AFC Championship Game against Lamar Jackson. Cleveland might be best suited across the entire conference to stop Jackson in his tracks, which is certainly worth a look here at 30-1. We like the Browns, we love Flacco.
