Zach Wilson Fantasy Football Rankings and Analysis with Mike White Out Week 16

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson will get another shot to prove himself in the Thursday Night Football game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. On Tuesday morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Mike White will not be cleared from a rib injury, again, meaning the previously benched Wilson will star his second consecutive game. Ahead of the matchup, let’s take a look at the Zach Wilson‘s fantasy football value and see if he’s worth a waiver wire pickup.

Is Zach Wilson a Fantasy Football Option in Week 16?

In the 20-17 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 15, Zach Wilson showed some flashes of why he was drafted No. 2 in the 2021 NFL Draft. But as has been the case for most of his 1.5-year NFL career, efficiency was an issue. Wilson finished 18 of 35 for 317 yards and two touchdowns. It was a season-high 19.38 fantasy football points for Wilson.

Despite the unimpressive stat line, Wilson could be in store for another productive fantasy football performance against the Jaguars, who rank 27th in fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. They have allowed at least 250 yards and two touchdowns to an opposing quarterback in their past three games and in five of their past six.

While Wilson took some more criticism for his performance in Week 15, Jets head coach Robert Saleh still thinks he has a chance to be the franchise quarterback in New York.

“The frustrating thing is that this kid is going to be a good quarterback, but the NFL and this new instant-coffee world that we’re in just doesn’t want to give people time,” Saleh said to ESPN. “So, we look at him and he’s just nitpicked with a fine-tooth comb.”

Don’t expect Jets fans to be very patient with Wilson, especially this week. Playing against the quarterback (Trevor Lawrence) who was drafted ahead of him in 2021, and against a defense that has plenty of holes in their secondary, New Yorkers will need to see something out of Wilson this week to help their push for the postseason and inspire hope for the future. And he should be able to put up some decent fantasy football numbers.

View Zach Wilson as a low-end fantasy football option in Week 16.
