Kylian Mbappe or Lionel Messi? 2022 World Cup Golden Boot Betting Odds Ahead of France-Argentina Final

Will Kylian Mbappe or Lionel Messi take home the Golden Boot at the 2022 World Cup? Ahead of the France- Argentina final on Sunday morning, the dynamic goal-scorers are atop the leaderboard with five goals each, and the betting odds are about even for who will win the coveted Golden Boot.

World Cup Odds: Kylian Mbappe-Lionel Messi Golden Boot Odds

Per DraftKings:

Kylian Mbappe -110

Lionel Messi -120

Olivier Giroud +1400

Julian Alvarez +1400

Though Mbappe has been the catalyst throughout the France run to the World Cup final, it was goals by Theo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani that gave it a 2-0 win against Morocco in the semifinals. But on the brightest stage, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if Mbappe got back to his scoring ways.

Messi, at 35 years old, is playing in what’s likely his last World Cup, and he has not disappointed. One of the greatest (if not the greatest) of all-time has added another chapter to his incredible legacy, and perhaps his most impressive game thus far was in the semifinal win over Croatia. Messi scored with a booming penalty and added a ridiculous assist in the second half to put away the 3-0 victory.

Olivier Giroud has scored four goals for France in the tournament, and Julian Alvarez has scored four for Argentina.

Mbappe would be the first France player to win the Golden Boot, which was first awarded in 1982. Messi or Giroud, 36, would be the oldest to win it.

France is a slight -120 favorite over Argentina to win the World Cup. Lionel Messi is +170 to score a goal, and Kylian Mbappe is +185.

We’re in for a real treat Sunday, with the two best players throughout the World Cup squaring off in the final.
