Best XFL Bets for Seattle Sea Dragons-Vegas Vipers (March 4)

The 0-2 Seattle Sea Dragons and 0-2 Vegas Vipers both look to get their first wins of the year on Saturday night. Seattle opened as a 3-point favorite but has been bid up to a 3.5-point favorite. Bettors looking for a Seattle Sea Dragons-Vegas Vipers prediction should hit this XFL bet for Week 3 at DraftKings — this spread is a bit too wide.

Best Seattle Sea Dragons-Vegas Vipers XFL Bet & Predictions | Week 3

Seattle Sea Dragons vs. Vegas Vipers (+3.5) | Mar. 4, 7 p.m. ET

The Vegas Vipers had to play a frustrating game in the rain against the D.C. Defenders last weekend. The Defenders gave up on throwing the ball early and opted to run the triple option for most of the second half as conditions deteriorated, and Vegas was unable to stop them. Sunday’s forecast calls for clear skies and moderate temperatures, which should help the Vipers bounce back.

Last weekend’s weather skewed the market’s perception of Vegas. The Vipers have the XFL’s highest-paid quarterback, Brett Hundley, who didn’t have a fair chance to show his stuff last weekend. Hundley still managed to complete 61.1% of his throws for 4.55 adjusted net yards per attempt (ANY/A) despite the conditions. He also picked up 24 yards with his legs.

Hundley isn’t listed as the Week 3 starter, but he wasn’t last week, and he should see plenty of action under center regardless. He gives the Vipers an edge over Seattle’s Ben DiNucci. DiNucci has completed a solid 65.1% of his throws for 5.18 ANY/A but has thrown a pair of interceptions and lost two fumbles. Although he currently owns better stats than Hundley, he hasn’t had to deal with inclement weather yet this season.

Seattle has a slight edge defensively but not enough of one to make up for the disparity in quarterback talent. The Sea Dragons have allowed the second-fewest yards per play (3.8) while the Vipers have allowed the fifth-fewest (4.5). However, Seattle barely ranks third in yards allowed per pass attempt (4.3) while Vegas ranks a close fifth (4.8). Vegas’ main defensive issues stem from poor run-stopping, but because Seattle’s offense uses passing plays 69.6% of the time, that probably won’t be an issue.

Sharps are making a mistake by putting so much action on Seattle. Although the yardage has been there for them, the turnovers aren’t just going to stop. Worse, the Hundley-led Vipers haven’t gotten a fair shake to show us what they can do. The market is right to favor Seattle but not by a 3.5-point margin.
