2023 World Series Bets: Mets Betting Line Drawing Attention

Per BetMGM, the Houston Astros (+650) are the current favorites to repeat as champs, but they are closely followed by the Mets, New York Yankees, and Los Angeles Dodgers, who are all at +750. Per the latest report on 2023 World Series bets, the Mets are getting the most bets placed on them (10.9%). They also have the highest handle percentage at 15.9%.

The Mets will go into the 2023 season without ace Jacob deGrom, who left for the Texas Rangers in free agency. But they were able to make several other splashes throughout the offseason that kept fans believing in their title chances. New York filled the void left by deGrom by adding 2022 AL Cy Young Award winner, Justin Verlander, to the fold. They also made deals to re-sign outfielder Brandon Nimmo and closer Edwin Diaz, while bringing in free agents Kodai Senga, Adam Ottavino, Tommy Pham, Omar Narvaez and David Robertson.

Still, Cohen has warned his fan base that the plethora of offseason moves does not necessarily mean his group will meet expectations in 2023.

“You know how hard it is to get to get into the World Series — as we saw last year, right?” Cohen said Monday at New York’s spring training camp, via TSN. “So the only thing you can do is put yourself in position where good things can happen. Got to make the playoffs. The team’s got to be healthy. It’s got to be rested. It’s got to be raring to go. And then you let the chips fall where they may. And if you keep putting yourself there, one day we’ll get there. Obviously, I’d love it sooner than later. But, you know, I can’t control that.”

The Mets last won a title in the 1986 season, and have made it clear since Cohen took over that they are going to be gunning for the championship with this current window of players. Based on the latest 2023 World Series betting report, the Mets are going to be a popular team throughout the season.
