2023 Honda Classic Odds & Trends: Shane Lowry & Sungjae Im
Per BetMGM data analyst John Ewing, the top four favorites for the Honda Classic are Sungjae Im (+850), Shane Lowry (+1600), Aaron Wise (+2200) and Chris Kirk (+2500). The most bet players are Lowry (7.5%), Im (7.2%) and Billy Horschel +2800 (5.5%). The highest handle percentage is on Im (15.8%), Lowry (8.3%) and Horschel (7.3%). The attention surrounding Im makes sense. He won this event in 2020 and has been placing strong finishes in the PGA in the early going of the season. Lowry, on the other hand, has been a regular at the Honda Classic in recent years, and continuously posts strong finishes at the event. He finished one stroke behind 2022 Honda Classic champion Sepp Straka (-10) and has been playing some good golf heading into this year’s event. Lowy placed within the top 15 at the Genesis Invitational after missing the cut with a forgettable performance at the Phoenix Open.
Lowry has been a fan-favorite throughout his career, winning three times on the PGA Tour, including winning the British Open Championship trophy in 2019.
