The regular season on the PGA Tour is officially in the books, but there is still plenty of golf to be played. The FedEx Cup is set to begin with a sprint to the finish for all of the tour’s best players looking to end the season on a high note. TPC Southwind hosts the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, a regular stop on Tour and a course that gives a wide range of skill sets a chance to compete. Here are a few of the FedEx St. Jude Championship bets that made my outright card.

These are my favorite FedEx St. Jude Championship 2025 outright plays, and I’ll be tracking the action closely all weekend.

Almost all the firepower is here, with the exception of Rory McIlroy, who is choosing not to play in this first leg of the playoffs. While we’ll start to see reduced fields in the coming events, this first tournament still features around 70 players, and with no cut, every golfer is guaranteed four rounds. That opens up plenty of value in the betting markets.
FedEx St. Jude Championship PGA Best Bet: Xander Schauffele
This is a double dip for me, as I also targeted Schauffele on the DFS side. That shows how much I like him in all formats this week. Ultimately, betting comes down to the number, and 18-1 is a great price.
Schauffele has had an unusual 2025, dealing with some injuries earlier in the year, but he looks healthy and in good form heading into the playoffs. He posted top-10 finishes in both Scotland and The Open Championship, and his ball striking is elite enough to travel anywhere, including TPC Southwind. The first step for any bet this week is surviving Scottie Scheffler, who sits at a comical +280. But if Scheffler slips at all, Schauffele is firmly in the mix as one of the most likely winners of this event.

FedEx St. Jude Championship PGA Best Bet: Justin Thomas

When betting on Thomas, you have to be prepared for a wide range of outcomes, even for a player of his caliber. There are times when his game simply isn’t clicking, and in those cases, he can miss the cut or fade early. That’s the downside. But on the flip side, he has the ceiling to win any event he tees it up in, regardless of field strength or course layout.
Thomas had a few disappointing showings in 2025, including two missed cuts in majors, but outside of those, his play has been quietly solid. His putting has improved, and if he can avoid compounding mistakes, he should generate plenty of birdie looks. He’s also a former winner at TPC Southwind, grabbing the top spot in 2020, so we know he’s comfortable on this course. I also liked what I saw from him in his recent European starts. Considering his better results this year came on technical courses like Harbour Town and Innisbrook, this price is worth a swing.

FedEx St. Jude Championship PGA Best Bet: Denny McCarthy
Last week, Cameron Young broke through with a wire-to-wire victory and removed himself from the list of best players yet to win on Tour. McCarthy is still on that list, but he showed encouraging signs with an 11th-place finish last week after a rough European swing.
We talked about him on the DFS side and highlighted how cold his putter had gone, even though putting is typically a strength. That flipped last week, and we saw the results immediately. If McCarthy continues to putt at an elite level — which is very possible given his baseline — the rest of his game just needs to hold up enough to give him a chance. The biggest challenge is staying out of trouble off the tee, but he has experience at TPC Southwind and even finished top 10 here last year. In a short field, 70-1 is an attractive number for a player with his putting skill and course history.
