Best MLB Player Props to Watch Today: Logan Gilbert, Minnesota Twins

Minnesota Twins vs. Seattle Mariners | 9:40 p.m. ET on FS1
Isaiah’s Target: Logan Gilbert at BetMGM

The Seattle Mariners play in one of the pitcher-friendliest parks in baseball. T-Mobile Park ranks tied for second in strikeout park factors, behind only Tropicana Field. The Mariners will start RHP Logan Gilbert tonight, and it’s safe to expect a strong outing from the 26-year-old pitcher.

Gilbert lines up against an underwhelming Minnesota Twins squad. The Twins rank last in the MLB in both strikeouts taken per game (10.1) and strikeout rate (26.8%). Across 2337 at-bats against RHPs like Gilbert, the Twins have taken a whopping 713 strikeouts (30.5%). Their team OPS also dips from .714 to .681 when they play on the road.

Although Gilbert isn’t the MLB’s most efficient pitcher when it comes to strikeouts, he owns a respectable 8.83 K/9 this season, up slightly from the 8.45 he recorded last season. Gilbert has pitched a monstrous 16 innings over his last two starts but is yet to take the mound since the All-Star Break. A seven or eight-inning run is in the cards for him tonight.

Gilbert has also feasted against the Twins. He lined up against them for 11 innings last season and racked up 13 strikeouts, good for 10.6 K/9, while recording an elite 0.89 ERA. He has struck out every current member of the Minnesota Twins he has pitched to at least once except for catcher Christian Vazquez.

The books have opened the bidding on Gilbert’s strikeouts at a relatively lofty 7.5. However, with the over in the plus money, this wager is worth a look at BetMGM. You’ll find the over priced at +121 (45.3%) via Pinnacle, a sharp book, and only +120 (45.5%) via BetMGM. Let’s play this one for enough to score a full-unit profit — it’s the best MLB player prop pick to watch this evening.
