Best YRFI & NRFI Picks Today: 4-1 Winning Streak! Mets-Marlins & Pirates-Cubs Bets (September 20)

I’d love to open this article up being excited for a 2-1 night and 4-1 run on no run first inning bets, but I’m STILL steamed up about the Nationals selling us last night. CJ Abrams hit a leadoff triple in the bottom of the first, and the Nationals looked inept at getting him in.

That ruined what would’ve been a SUPER SMASH night (+336 parlay and +583 parlay). UGH!

We’re getting right back at it, though, with two more NRFI bets for the night slate. However, we’ve got day-game action, and I gave out two yes/no run first inning bets for my followers over on Twitter. Go follow me on Twitter to get those picks (includes a +224 parlay)

New York Mets vs. Miami Marlins First Inning Bet

Another day, another Mets-Marlins NRFI. We had an incredibly sweaty one last night, but Braxton Garrett wiggled out of it for us.

Tonight’s game features a pair of pitchers I absolutely love — Kodai Senga and Eury Perez, who are much better pitchers than Joey Lucchesi and Garrett.

I know I’ve raved about Perez many times before, but the guy is a stud, which is represented by his 15-3 NRFI record this season. Perez misses a LOT of bats, and the Mets have never seen him, which is an added bonus for him. I expect him to be able to get through this first inning with ease and hand it off to Senga in the bottom half.

Senga has been equally dominant in terms of NRFIs (19-8) and strikeouts (191 in 155 innings). The Mets righty has made two starts against the Marlins this season and is 1-1 on NRFIs. But if we take a deeper look at the numbers, we see absolute DOMINANCE against the Marlins bats. In their 31 at-bats against Senga, the Marlins are hitting .161 (only five hits) and have struck out 13 times. In fact, Senga has allowed only six runs in his last 32.2 innings.

You already know we’re taking this no run first inning.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Chicago Cubs First Inning Bet

Cubs lefty Justin Steele got smacked by some regression in his last start out against the Arizona Diamondbacks, giving up a pair of homers en route to a six-run drubbing. Newsflash: The Pirates are not the Diamondbacks. We’re going to trust Steele and his 23-5 no run first inning record. The Pirates are third-t0-last in runs per first inning, and Steele has already NRFI’d the Pirates in his only start against them this year.

Mitch Keller, on the other hand, has been a NRFI machine of late, cashing his last four no run first inning chances — and that includes an eight-inning, no-run outing against the Cubs. The only hiccup in those last four games was against Atlanta, but … the Braves are basically an offensive cheat code. The over/under in this game is sitting at 7.5 or 8 depending on where you look, which is lower than what we see in most Wrigley Field games where the wind isn’t blowing in at 100 mph.

I like the matchup here, and we’re going to ride with the no run first inning.
