Best YRFI & NRFI Picks Today: Expert Bet for Diamondbacks-Phillies (October 17)

It looked like we had a sweat on our no run first inning bets heading into the bottom of the first in Diamondbacks-Phillies, but a Schwarbomb on the first pitch from Zac Gallen put our NRFI to sleep. We did go 1-1 on the day, cashing a plus-money ticket on Rangers-Astros earlier in the day.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t get the BANG we were looking for. However, looking at the schedule, we could have a few more opportunities if these series drag out a little. So we’re not TOTALLY done just yet. We still have some NRFIs to get in on.

Best YRFI & NRFI Bets Today: Yes & No Run First Inning Bets

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Philadelphia Phillies First Inning Bet

We’re switching it up, and I’m just giving you the goods right off the bat. We’re rolling with the YRFI in Game 2, but the reason is because you need to hit the pause button here, then immediately bet this at BetRivers because it’s by far the best number available at -106. And then obviously, you’re coming back to read the rest … right? RIGHT?!? I’ll see you in 90 seconds.

All right, that was a nice break. Now let’s get down to business. The Diamondbacks went down 1-0 in the NLCS after a wild first few innings, and now they’re going to be scratching and clawing to even the series before heading home for Game 3. They can ill afford to go down 2-0 in a series leaving Philadelphia. And what was Arizona’s calling card to being the No. 7 first-inning offense this season? Being freak athletes and running like me whenever I smelled my mom making chocolate chip cookies … just much, much faster. Nola only has 58 registered at-bats against Diamondback hitters, but they’re hitting .255 with five extra-base hits (4 doubles, 1 homer). If Corbin Carroll or Ketel Marte get on in the first, I think we’ll see them test JT Realmuto. Nola did allow 25 stolen bases this season and attempted to run 49 times against him. There’s a path to success here where Carroll or Marte find a way on base, create some havoc on the bases, end up on second or third and ultimately get us that yes run first inning we’re looking for.

As we saw yesterday, it really only takes one swing — er, pitch — for a couple of these Phillies hitters to change the outlook of a game. Kyle Schwarber hit a ball to the moon on Pitch 1 from Gallen, and then Bryce Harper hit one FURTHER than the moon on the first pitch shortly after. Incredible stuff. The Phillies offense is on a warpath right now it seems. So if you know anything about me, I’m running like a scared chicken to get the heck out of the way. But as the late Doyle Brunson said, “ride the rush.” That’s exactly what we’re gonna do. In limited sample against Merrill Kelly, the Phils have hit him for a .288 average, .354 OBP and .795 OPS — headlined by Trea Turner and his nine hits in 21 at-bats. Turner is a terror on the paths as well, so there are outs to scoring beyond just hitting the ball out of the ballpark.

I’m heeding the advice of ol’ Texas Dolly, and I’m going to ride the rush of this locomotive of a Phillies offense to the yes run first inning.
