Dodgers-Padres Opening Day Picks: Lindy’s Leans, Likes & Locks for Korea Opener (March 20)

Did MLB sneak up on you? On Wednesday, March 20, we have official baseball. That means we’ve got Dodgers-Padres Opening Day picks courtesy of Eric Lindquist.

Lindy is back after a profitable 2023 to bring more winners for the 2024 MLB season, and he’s not waiting for Opening Day for the rest of the league to get started. He’s ready with his Leans, Likes and Locks right now.

Here’s how it works: Almost every day throughout the season, Lindy breaks down every game on the slate. Leans are things Eric is thinking about betting but hasn’t bet just yet. Likes are half-unit to full-unit plays. Locks are over 1-unit plays. This is Eric’s process, it doesn’t have to be yours — but it paid for those who listened last year.

Let’s watch below for Lindy’s official Leans, Likes and Locks for Dodgers-Padres.

Dodgers-Padres Opening Day Picks | March 20

The Dodgers are -205 favorites with newly acquired Tyler Glasnow on the mound. The Padres respond with Yu Darvish, but are +170 underdogs. The total is 8.5. Find real-time odds here.

Los Angeles will unveil its other new acquisition: Shohei Ohtani. The Padres have a bit of a new look as well following the Juan Soto trade to the New York Yankees. Blake Snell is also gone. It’s not the best lineup outside of Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado.

Lindy’s initial ‘Lean’ is on the Dodgers run-line. Because the ballpark is expected to play a little up to home runs relative to a neutral Major League stadium, the Los Angeles lineup has the advantage. However, sportsbooks have anticipated this well and the price on the run line is a tad high here, keeping it from a ‘Like.’ The line is too efficient for a bet.

The official ‘Like’ for Dodgers-Padres is a player prop. As good as Tyler Glasnow is and as elite as his pure “stuff” is, when batters get ahold of his fastball they take it on a ride. Ultimately, it comes down to price, and the price on Fernando Tatis Jr. to hit a home run is too good to pass up. If he was +250? We’re not looking there. But at +470? That’s a price Eric likes.
