PrizePicks MLB Tonight: Jeff McNeil Falls Short

Jeff McNeil More/Less 1.5 Bases

Jeff McNeil is no sloth to finding the base pads, but he struggles to put together extra-base hits. McNeil has only one double in his last 30 games and zero home runs during that span. He’s stayed under this line in six of his last seven games and now faces off against Bryce Elder who he has yet to register a hit off of in two at-bats. Elder, a right-handed pitcher, has reverse splits and is holding lefties under a .210 batting average.

Zack Greinke More/Less 3.5 Strikeouts

39-year-old Zack Greinke has surprised baseball fans in his last few starts. He’s surpassed four strikeouts in his last four starts but half of them came against teams that rank in the bottom 10 in K% to RHP this season. The Miami Marlins have quality hitters that go right at pitchers. They see the second fewest pitches per at bat just behind the Washington Nationals. Even with Greinke’s surge as of late, he still ranks in the bottom 22 percentile in K%.

Louis Varland More/Less 4.5 Strikeouts

Louis Varland is one of the few Minnesota Twins’ pitchers that get a long leash. He consistently pitches into the sixth inning and has eclipsed at least five strikeouts in five of seven starts. The Tampa Bay Rays offense is scary, no doubt, but they’ve raised their K rate against RHP to 23.6% in the last two weeks. Even with a rested bullpen, this line is too low for Varland.

Mike Trout More/Less 0.5 Runs

It must be fun hitting in front of Shohei Ohtani. Mike Trout has excelled at getting on base for the middle of the Los Angeles Angels order to knock him in. He’s crossed home plate in 29 of 57 games this season and is a big home run threat against RHP Hayden Wesneski who has allowed 10 home runs this season.
