World Series Odds, Picks & Predictions: This Could Be Their Year! (2024)

Every team in Major League Baseball has heard it in their clubhouse — or their season-ticket holder sections, at some point in March: “This could be our year!” But how many teams truly have a chance at the 2024 World Series title? Certainly the Los Angeles Dodgers have positioned themselves to be relevant in November while the Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies and reigning NL Champion Arizona Diamondbacks will have something to say about that. Meanwhile in the American League, the field is a little more level with the Baltimore Orioles, Houston Astros, New York Yankees and defending World Series Champion Texas Rangers leading the pack. Let’s dive into the World Series odds as we break down our top picks and predictions for this year’s winner.

The grinding gauntlet of 162 regular season games takes its toll on most teams, and in order to win the World Series a squad needs great performances, solid depth and some good luck in avoiding the injury bug. Let’s take a look at which team could provide the most value as a World Series winner. Looking for more analysis and picks? Check out our MLB betting tools or our MLB betting promos!

World Series Picks & Predictions

We saw last year that regardless of how dominant a team may look in the regular season, it takes a special kind of postseason run to make it to the World Series, let alone win it. Everything must go right – or at least close to it – for a team to earn the crown and become the champion. Last season’s Texas Rangers team was no exception, riding the star power of Marcus Semien, Adolis Garcia and World Series MVP Corey Seager to the franchise’s first World Series title.

Last season’s World Series title was won with bats, as the Rangers out-slugged the Arizona Diamondbacks, scoring at least five runs in three of their four victories while Nathan Eovaldi and Jordan Montgomery led a pitching staff that threw well enough to win. But last season’s victory was as much about how the Rangers got to October and November as it was about how they won.

The squad boasted six All-Stars and were ultra-aggressive at the trade deadline, acquiring Jordan Montgomery, Max Scherzer and Aroldis Chapman to bolster their rotation and bullpen. So really, we’re looking for a team that has an already strong roster and a front office who has shown willingness to be aggressive in-season, acquiring more talent for a small window… I’ll give you a hint — they were my pick to win the AL, too.

The Seattle Mariners have the perfect combination of deep, talented pitching, All-Star caliber talent in their lineup and an aggressive win-now mindset to make a deep postseason run if all goes right. Julio Rodriguez is the perfect franchise cornerstone for the Mariners to build around, and they’ve provided the young outfielder with some lineup protection with Jorge Polanco and Mitch Garver joining the team in the offseason.

Further, general manager Jerry DiPoto not only added substantial power and depth to the Mariners’ lineup, but he also cleared cap space, putting the team in a position to be more aggressive during the season.

With Luis Castillo, Logan Gilbert and George Kirby headlining the rotation, a strong lineup anchored by AL MVP candidate Julio Rodriguez as well as a solid supporting cast, the Mariners seem like a great value at odds of +1900 to win the World Series.
