Cross-Sport Parlay Builder: Trae Young Fires Away (April 11)

The long-awaited NBA regular season is finally over. Tonight, both seven and eight seeds battle it out for a trip to play against each conferences two seed. In the MLB, all 30 teams are in action with Baltimore Orioles pitcher Grayson Rodriguez taking the mound. Let’s dive into our cross-sport parlay on FanDuel for Tuesday night.

Cross-Sport Parlay Builder (-116)

Trae Young (Atlanta Hawks) 20+ Points (-390)

Trae Young leads the Atlanta Hawks into the play-in tournament after a middle-of-the-pack regular season. They finished the regular season with a record of 41-41 and come into tonight as five-point underdogs to the Miami Heat

Young is adamant about “getting his”. He averages the 12th most field goal attempts per game for 26.2 points per game. Luckily for us, Young scored over 20 points in three of four games against the Heat this season and six of his last seven against the Heat.

The Heat are bound to hedge or double Young off ball-screens and make his life difficult. But, Young has dealt with that all season long. He’s scored at least 20 points in 81% of games and 16 of 21 career playoff games. After a miserable playoff series against the Heat last postseason, Young is primed to shine tonight in Miami.

Grayson Rodriguez (Baltimore Orioles) 5+ Strikeouts (-205)

Grayson Rodriguez is big-league-ready. In his first career start, Rodriguez fanned five Texas Rangers batters after a struggle in the first inning. He allowed both of his earned runs in the opening frame and then settled in nicely. The Rangers offense was coming off an offensive showing series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Tonight, he’ll get arguably the best opponent for an opposing pitcher, the Oakland Athletics. The Athletics have the second-highest strikeout against right-handed pitchers while hitting .195. Rodriguez pitched five innings in his first start on 83 pitches. Expect the top arm in the Orioles system to raise some eyebrows at home.
