NCAA Tournament Odds: Maryland-West Virginia Spread Moving Fast

West Virginia enters as the lower seed despite being a 2-point favorite over Maryland. The Mountaineers finished the year at 19-11 overall and 10-8 in Big 12 conference play. They are coming off a 61-78 loss to the Kansas Jayhawks in the conference tournament. The loss comes on the back of a 3-game winning streak, with the Mountaineer’s last loss also coming at the hands of Kansas at the end of the season.

Maryland at 21-12 and 11-9 in the Big Ten. The Terrapins made it out past Minnesota in their first conference tournament game before falling to the Indiana Hoosiers in the next round. They lost two straight games to end their regular season to Ohio State and Penn State, respectively.

The downward trajectory for the Maryland Terrapins led bettors to quickly move this number one more point in West Virginia’s favor. It remains to be seen if the number will move further, but the early line movement indicates that sharp bettors were quick to back the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Despite the late season losses, the school is still excited for their prospects. The team Twitter account announced the news immediately after hearing their name called on Selection Sunday.
