TCU-West Virginia Game Prediction and Odds: Max Duggan or Bust

The Big 12 has become a very interesting race within the conference and this weekend will be important for every team as they fight for position in the back half of the season. In our continued college football odds series, with plenty of eyes on Max Duggan, we make our best TCU-West Virginia prediction and picks.

The Big 12 is arguably a top 3 conference in the country and we have seen some very good football so far this season. One team with a lot to play for still is the TCU Horned Frogs. TCU is ranked 7th in the country and very much in the hunt for a playoff spot. The Horned Frogs will travel to face the West Virginia Mountaineers for an 11am CST contest on Saturday and this one should bring some exciting football.

TCU-West Virginia  Prediction and Betting Picks

No Room for Error

We knew that this TCU team was going to be strong this season, but they are exceeding expectations as they are now undefeated and looking to get into the College Football Playoff. The Horned Frogs have won their last 3 games against ranked opponents and not only have they won, they have been winning with putting up some big time points. TCU is currently 3rd in the FBS in total offense and they are in a conference where scoring is a necessity to stay in a game.

Quarterback Max Duggan has been a leader for this team, and he has shown tremendous ability to take care of the football by only throwing one interception on the year so far. Defensively, as the season progresses, the Horned Frogs will need to cut down on allowing so many points, but they have also shown they can get stops when needed and that’s most important when its time to win ball games.

Mountaineers Playing Spoiler

West Virginia has been historically an electric football program and it is going to be interesting to see how they come out against one of the best teams in the country. After a 48-10 loss last week to Texas Tech, the Mountaineers need to go back to the drawing board and make some huge adjustments.

This is a defense who ranks 7th in the Big 12 and they’ve given up over 33 points per game (PPG) which is raises concern going up against an explosive offense. The Mountaineers are going to look to their offense to keep them in this game and it is an important weekend for quarterback J.T. Daniels. The transfer has had a very decent season statistically but has shown to make mistakes when the pressure is on. This is going to need to be a West Virginia team who is fundamentally sound in all phases if they have a chance on Saturday.

TCU-West Virginia Predictions

All eyes are on TCU as they continue their incredible season and look to reach the College Football playoff. They must win out for the remainder of the regular season if they want a chance, and every team is going to give them their best going forward. TCU is a 7.5-point favorite as they go on the road this weekend and there is a game total of 68.5 points which is expected from this high scoring conference. TCU has the best offense in the Big 12 and 5-1-1 against the spread this season.

I look for them to continue rolling on Saturday as a good bet for this matchup is for TCU to cover the 7.5-point spread. Although West Virginia’s record doesn’t show it, they have still played some competitive games this season including a close loss to Pitt and an upset win against Baylor. I still see the Mountaineers coming out and playing competitive football and finding some success against the TCU defense. I see there being some points put up on the board but just under the 68.5-point game total as we should still see the stat sheet lit up as we normally do for these exciting Big 12 matchups.

Final TCU-West Virginia Predictions And College Football Odds Pick: TCU covers 7.5-point spread.
