Let’s take a look a the potential fantasy football value of two lower owned QBs that might be available on your waiver wire, Jimmy Garoppolo and Marcus Mariota.
Jimmy Garoppolo–Marcus Mariota Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 11
Garoppolo (available in 41% of Yahoo! Sports leagues) has been a consistent force for the 49ers since taking over for the injured Trey lance in Week 2. While nobody would think of him as a top fantasy football option, Garoppolo has been putting up impressive numbers all season long.
Garoppolo was a touchdown machine heading into last week, throwing for at least two touchdowns in every game between Weeks 5-8. He failed to throw a touchdown last week given the 49ers’ run-heavy approach against the Los Angeles Chargers.
In Week 11, Garoppolo’s Niners will face off against the Arizona Cardinals, who have struggled to hold quarterbacks in check. The Cardinals currently rank 27th in the NFL in points allowed to opposing quarterbacks, even after stifling Los Angeles Rams‘ backup John Wolford in Week 10.
For Marcus Mariota (owned in 33% of Yahoo! leagues), it’s been an up-and-down campaign in 2022. His last start against the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football made it look like his days as a starting quarterback may be numbered. Luckily for Mariota and the Falcons, he’ll get the chance to face off against the Chicago Bears and their dismal defensive unit in Week 11.
The Bears have allowed 243 points against them thus far, which is good for fifth worst in the league. They are allowing opposing teams to score and average of 24.7 points per game. They’ve been especially bad in recent weeks, allowing 49 points to the Cowboys in Week 8, 35 points to the Dolphins in Week 9, and 31 points to the Lions in Week 10.
Even when Mariota isn’t looking the part of a franchise quarterback, he’s still able to put up fantasy football points using his legs, and ranks as the 11th best fantasy QB this season on ESPN. Expect both Jimmy Garoppolo and Marcus Mariota to be adequate options as fill-ins in Week 11
