Jeff Wilson Jr. vs. Raheem Mostert: Which Dolphins Running Back Ranks Better For Fantasy Football & DFS

The Miami Dolphins have implemented a true two-back system with Jeff Wilson Jr. and Raheem Mostert, which is making for hard decisions for fantasy football and DFS players. Ahead of the Sunday Night Football game between the Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers, let’s take a look at the Jeff Wilson Jr.Raheem Mostert fantasy football and DFS rankings.

Jeff Wilson Jr.Raheem Mostert Fantasy Football and DFS Ranking

Per the Stokastic weekly running back rankings, Jeff Wilson Jr. (No. 22 on the board) ranks ahead of Raheem Mostert (No. 27). And using the free player compare tool, Wilson projects at 10.68 points, with Mostert projecting at 9.07.

Using the expert DFS projections, Wilson Jr. ($6,200) also ranks as a slightly more valuable play than Mostert ($5,600) despite the pricing difference.

When playing from behind against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13, it was Mostert who handled the bulk of the load in the Miami backfield. Playing 61% of its offensive snaps, Mostert carried the ball just seven times for 30 yards. Wilson had just one carry for 3 yards.

Speaking to the press after the loss, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said “it’s a shame” that Wilson and Mostert weren’t able to get involved in the game. But McDaniel also mentioned the overall game flow as a reason the Dolphins implemented a heavy pass-first plan.

Before last week’s clunker, Wilson had taken over as the lead back with Mostert dealing with an injury. Wilson played in over 60% of offensive snaps in both Week 10 and Week 12, with Week 11 a bye, and had his best performance of the season in Week 10 when he ran for 117 yards and a touchdown.

Now that both Mostert and Wilson are healthy and in the lineup, they’ll have the luxury of going against a Chargers defense that doesn’t pose nearly the same challenge as the 49ers. Los Angeles allows the third-most fantasy football points to opposing running backs and has given up over 100 yards rushing in six consecutive games.

Look for McDaniel to try to get both Jeff Wilson Jr. and Raheem Mostert going early and often Sunday night. But if you find yourself choosing between the two, Wilson is the slightly better play.
