Tua Tagovailoa Injury News: Dolphins-Bills Odds Move Following Latest Bombshell

The Miami Dolphins will be without quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for their AFC Playoff game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel announced Wednesday that Tagovailoa has yet to clear NFL concussion protocol, ruling the quarterback out for the playoff game.

Tua Tagovailoa Injury News Moves Dolphins-Bills Betting Line

Per DraftKings, the Bills are now a large 13-point favorite over the Dolphins on Sunday, with 90% of the bets placed on Buffalo. The line opened with the Dolphins as 10.5-point underdogs as Tagovailoa’s status hung in the balance.

Backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater suffered a broken finger in a Week 17 loss to the New England Patriots. According to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, Bridgewater is preparing himself to be the starter this week, but that’s only if he has no setbacks. If Bridgewater cannot go, Miami will be forced to put their faith in third-string quarterback Skylar Thompson.

Thompson completed 20 of 31 passes for just 152 yards in an ugly 11-6 win over the New York Jets last week that put Miami into the postseason.

“Nobody was telling me that I had to be a hero,” Thompson said after the game, per Cutch Points. “It may not have been pretty, but we got the job done.”

Whether it’s Thompson or Bridgewater against the Bills this week, he’ll have his work cut out to pull off the massive upset in Buffalo. Not only are the Bills entering the playoffs among the top favorites to win the Super Bowl (+400), but they’re also coming off a convincing 35-23 win over the New England Patriots in Week 18.

When the Bills and Dolphins met in Miami in Week 15, the Bills won a classic, 32-29.

“It took everything we had to pull this one out tonight,” head coach Sean McDermott said after that game, per Bills Wire. “It just makes it special. … You know, like I said, humbling. Really, that’s how I feel about it. Humbled to be a part of it in this great town that doesn’t get as much credit as it deserves, honestly. And the fans, I mean, this place is unique. So, just awesome. Awesome.”

Following the Tua Tagovailoa injury news, few are expecting the Dolphins to be able to keep up with the Bills this time around. If you are looking to bet on the Dolphins-Bills playoff game, FanDuel is offering new users the chance to win $150 in credits with just a $5 wager!
