Best Kraken-Stars NHL Bets: Pavelski, Dadanov Goal Scoring Chances Outpacing the Market (May 2)

Nobody expected the Seattle Kraken to get as far as they have this season. The expansion franchise is leaps and bounds ahead of any expansion franchise in recent memory, reaching the second round of the NHL Playoffs by taking out the Colorado Avalanche. Unfortunately for the Kraken the road from expansion team to NHL champs only gets tougher as the move on to face the Dallas Stars. The first game of the Kraken-Stars series is Tuesday night and it’s hard to not root for the expansion team underdogs. However, despite the excitement around Seattle, the OddsShopper tools  have identified the best Kraken-Stars NHL bet on two Dallas wingmen.

OddsShopper’s market-based betting model finds the sharpest bookmakers in every major sport and on every bet type. Best Kraken-Stars NHL Bets: Pavelski, Dadanov Goal Scoring Chance Outpacing the Market

Betting on anyone not named Connor McDavid to score a goal is always a risky proposition. There are plenty of ways the puck can go, and even the best like McDavid or superstars like Nathan MacKinnon and Auston Matthews don’t put one past the goalie every night. The question is, if you are going to lay money on an “Any Goal Scorer” NHL bet, how much do you need to win to make up for the risk?

Sometimes there’s value on high-ice time top line players, and sometimes the payout is so high that it makes wagering on a third or fourth line player worth it. That’s the case tonight in the Kraken-Stars Game 1.

Joe Pavelski is expected to skate on the Stars top line. As a player getting significant ice time on home ice favorite the +240 odds at FanDuel provide some edge. The OddsShopper Premium Tool has the expected win rate of this bet at 30%. That gives is a long-term ROI of about 3%. It doesn’t come in too often, so you’ll want to risk a small portion of your bankroll. A bet size just under 1% of your roll is appropriate to avoid losing too much while eventually realizing the edge.

There’s also some edge to be had on Stars’ 3rd liner Evgenii Dadanov “Any Goal Scorer” bet. FanDuel has him at +500, which is too cheap for a bet that hits 18% of time according to the OddsShopper model. You’ll get paid off well if this bet comes in, and it has a 5% long-term ROI. Just don’t bet too much, since it connects less frequently than Pavelski’s. Dropping about .75-.78% of your bankroll on this wager makes sense to grow sustainably.

You should also consider which bet and risk profile you personally prefer. Making two bets like this in the same game limits some of their edge since there’s negative correlation between the ice time of these two skaters and their share of the puck and scoring opportunities.
