Hurricanes Stanley Cup Odds on the Move After Finally Snapping Road Losing Streak

The Carolina Hurricanes entered Sunday’s Game 4 against the New York Islanders looking to solve their road playoff woes and put an end to the narrative that they are much worse away from Raleigh. They were able to do just that, dominating the Islanders from the jump at UBS Arena on Sunday afternoon. The Hurricanes cruised to a 5-2 victory to take a 3-1 lead over the Islanders in the series. Now, the Hurricanes Stanley Cup odds show they are a team to keep an eye on going forward.

Hurricanes Stanley Cup Odds Spike After Game 4 Win

Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Hurricanes are now +700 to win the Stanley Cup. That number puts them behind just the Boston Bruins (+240) and Colorado Avalanche (+550). The Canes entered the postseason at +1100 to win the cup. New users at FanDuel trying to get in on the action can also get $150 in bet credits with any $5 wager on the Stanley Cup Playoffs!

With the win, the Hurricanes were able to get the monkey off their back after a long, dreadful postseason road slump. They had lost eight straight road games in the postseason, going 2-12 on the road since their 2019 sweep on the Islanders in the first round.

After losing Game 3 on the road, Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour pointed to the power play as an area that needed to improve for the team to make a deep run.

“The power play cost us the game,” Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour said, per Yahoo Sports. “That was clear. In the second, we had a couple, and we need to do more there. We can’t just rely on killing penalties. We need more from the power play.”

Carolina quickly responded to their head coach’s call-out, cashing in on the power play in the first period when center Seth Jarvis found the back of the net. Jarvis would add another tally in the game, with Sebastian Aho, Martin Necas and Mackenzie MacEachern rounding out the team’s scoring in the five-goal outburst.

The Hurricanes now have the Islanders on the ropes, and the Hurricanes Stanley Cup odds show they are going to be a tough out in the postseason.
