PGA Golf Odds: Rahm Hard to Beat at The PLAYERS Championship (Mar 9)

Jon Rahm started out last week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational on fire. Rahm shot seven under par in the opening round, ending day one in the lead. The rest of the tournament didn’t go as planned for the number one golfer in the world, but that hasn’t stopped oddsmakers from making him a +750 favorite for the PLAYERS Championship. The PLAYERS kicks off on Thursday, and the golf odds are out for the first PGA major of the year.

PGA Golf Odds: Rahm Hard to Beat at The PLAYERS Championship

Per DraftKings,

Jon Rahm  +750
Rory McIlroy  +1000
Scottie Scheffler  +1200
Justin Thomas  +1600
Xander Schauffele  +1800
Patrick Cantlay  +2000
Tony Finau  +2200
Max Homa  +2500
Collin Morikawa  +2500
Will Zalatoris  +2500
Viktor Hovland  +2500

Despite finishing T39th at the Arnold Palmer this week, it comes as no surprise that Jon Rahm is the favorite to win at The PLAYERS. Rahm (+750) has already won three events on the TOUR in 2023, including taking down the Genesis Invitational one week ago.

No other golfer has lower than 10:1 odds to win this week. After Rahm is Rory McIlroy (+1000). He is coming off an outstanding performance in the final round of the Arnold Palmer, shooting -8 on day four to finish T2.

McIlroy is a notch above Scottie Scheffler (+1200) on the PGA odds board. Scheffler made the cut, but struggled in the event this week. That changed on the final day when he shot -7 to pull into a tie for fourth place.

Several other golfers on the top ten on The PLAYERS odds board are coming into the event off strong performances. Patrick Cantlay (+2000) also finished T4, while Viktor Hovland (+2500) shot -5 to finish 10th. Max Homa  (+2500) ended the week T14, Justin Thomas (+1600) T21, Tony Finau (+2200) T24 and Xander Schauffelle (+1800) T39. Colin Morikawa (+2500) is the only golfer among the odds leaders to miss the cut last week.

Rahm’s highest finish at this tournament in his career was T9 in 2021. Justin Thomas won in 2021 and Rory McIlroy did so in 2019. The 2020 PLAYERS Championship was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year’s PLAYERS Championship was won by Cameron Smith, who departed the PGA for LIV Golf this season. His absence means that a new leader will be crowned this year, with many top golfers vying for the victory.
