Mattress Mack Quickly Got Over the Houston Sweet 16 Loss By Hammering the Astros

Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale has really made a name for himself in the sports betting community by placing insanely high wagers and using the bets as promotions for his Texas furniture store. The Mattress mogul again made headlines when taking over $3.5 Million in bets on the Houston Cougars to win the NCAA Tournament. However, he quickly pivoted to a Houston Astros future after the Cougars were upset by Miami Friday.

Mattress Mack Hammers Astros After Houston Gets Upset in NCAA Tournament

Mattress Mack went on social media to announce he was putting $1.9 Million on the Astros to win the World Series. With the Astros currently at 6-1, the bet would pay out $13.3 Million if the Astros are to repeat as champs. He also announced a promotion at his Gallery Furniture store, where any customer who places an order of $5,000 or more will be eligible for a refund if the Astros win it all.

Last season, Mattress Mack made history when hauling in over $75 Million when the Astros defeated the Philadelphia Phillies to win the World Series.

“Oh, it’s definitely a win-win,” McIngvale told ESPN in a recent profile. “These promotions just bring the brand to life and give us a ton of brand equity that we wouldn’t have otherwise. The customers love it, so they’re totally engaged and talk about it for years. Because it runs all season long, it probably ups the number of people following the Astros, too, because now they have a real vested interest in the team.”

The Astros come into the season as the betting favorite to win the World Series, returning the same nucleus that pulled off the win in the 2022 season. The Astros begin their season against the Chicago White Sox next week and will have a banner-raising ceremony prior to the game.

The Astros welcomed Mattress Mack into their stadium and let him throw out the first pitch during the World Series last season. After the team gifted him with a championship, it is no surprise that he’ll be running it back again.

It sure looks like he is getting over the Houston Cougars’ loss just fine…
