MLB Overnight Bets: Brewers-Nationals, Angels-Braves, Blue Jays-Orioles

Brewers-Nationals MLB Overnight Odds
Odds via FanDuel Sportsbook
Brewers: -198 | Nationals: +166
Brewers: -1.5: -120 | Nationals: +1.5: +100
Over 8.5: -115 | Under 8.5: -105

The Milwaukee Brewers are in a dog fight in the NL Central. They’re neck and neck with the Cincinnati Reds for first place, but they now have to contend with the Chicago Cubs who won seven straight games before losing on Sunday. The Brew Crew added slugger Carlos Santana over the weekend and could still be looking to make moves before the trade deadline on August 1st. One thing that’s certain is they’ll be retaining the services of their ace, Corbin Burnes. He will be on the mound Monday night when they open a series with the Washington Nationals.

The Nats’ don’t have much to play for as they sit at the bottom of the NL East.  They’ll have SP Jake Irvin take the hill when the Brewers come to town on Monday. Irvin has struggled to a 4.96 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in fifteen starts this year, his first in the majors. He has a lowly 1.9 K/BB ratio and has allowed at least three earned runs in five of his last six starts.

It stands to reason that there’s a bit of value on the Over for a Brewers-Nationals overnight bet. You can grab the Over 8.5 Runs at FanDuel for -115. The bet has true odds of -121, as it hits 55% of the time. That gives this MLB bet a 2% positive expected value. It’s worth staking about 1% of your bankroll using the Kelly Criterion for sustainable growth.

Angels-Braves MLB Overnight Odds
Odds via BetRivers Sportsbook
Angels: +210 | Braves: -250
Angels +1.5: -104 | Braves -1.5: -120
Over 10: -109 | Under 10: -112

A week ago at this time the Los Angeles Angels looked to be giving in. The rumors were swirling around where they would trade Shohei Ohtani and baseball fans were lamenting what could have been for an organization that he and Mike Trout and couldn’t find the post-season. Things changed, and the Angels surprised everyone by picking up Lucas Giolito and committing themselves to make a run for the playoffs in 2023. They have a tough road ahead that goes through the Atlanta Braves with a series that begins on Monday night.

The Angels will have Griffin Canning on the mound vs. the Braves’ Charlie Morton. Canning has been solid in his first few years as a pro, but he pales in comparison to Morton, not to mention the huge task of taking on the Braves wrecking crew of an offense. Atlanta is a -250 favorite on the MLB overnight odds at the time of this writing. That’s a pretty big number, but they’re proving to be one of the most formidable teams in baseball.

Despite Atlanta’s prodigious offense and the pitching difference between the veteran Morton and Griffin Canning, there’s still a bit of value on the Angels’ Moneyline odds. They’re currently at +210 to win the game, but the market points to the true odds of this Angels-Braves bet being +210. It should win 33% of the time, giving it a 2% positive expected value. Consider staking about 2% of your bankroll using the Kelly Criterion for sustainable bankroll management.

Orioles-Blue Jays MLB Overnight Odds
Odds via FanDuel Sportsbook
Orioles: +122 | Blue Jays: -144
Orioles +1.5: -154 | Blue Jays -1.5: +128
Over 9: -110 | Under 9: -110

The Baltimore Orioles are out ahead of the New York Yankees on Sunday Night Baseball, but they’ll turn around right away and head out to play another AL East rival on Monday in Toronto. The O’s are on a quest to win their first AL East title in years, so any divisional series has a lot of meaning. They’ll have Kyle Gibson on the mound as they look to contend with the Toronto Blue Jays’ Chris Bassitt.

There’s nothing to write home about in the Orioles-Blue Jays overnight odds, but you can grab some sweat equity and a bit of edge. The Orioles-Blue Jays bet on the Run Line for the Orioles +1.5 (-154) has just under a 1% positive expected value in OddsShopper’s market-based model. The bet should win about 61% of the time and has true odds right around this price at -155. It’s worth staking .75% of your roll using the Kelly Criterion.
