Best PrizePicks NBA Player Predictions: Collin Sexton Shines (January 23)

It’s Taco Tuesday on PrizePicks, and the first discount on the board is Jalen Williams‘ Points + Rebounds + Assists. The discounts can range from 12% to 25%, while today’s is set at 14%. I’d love a discount of 18% or more, but anything we get is an advantageous play. We have a small five-game slate today that tips off at 7:00 PM ET in Indiana with Nuggets-Pacers. With Tyrese Haliburton out, we could see Pascal Siakam handle the ball more. We have a 240 total for Jazz-Pelicans, with both teams in the top three of offensive rating over the last 10 games. We will close out the evening with Lakers-Clippers in Los Angeles without LeBron James, who is resting due to an ankle injury. Let’s dive into the best PrizePicks NBA picks and player predictions for Jan. 23, starting with Collin Sexton. Need more action? Our PrizePicks optimizer has plenty more picks waiting for you to view, and our PrizePicks guide can help you make the sharpest plays possible.

Collin Sexton M/L 21.5 Points

Is Collin Sexton back to being the player he was for Cleveland from 2019-2021? It sure seems like it. Since being inserted into the starting lineup, Sexton has gone from 12.7 points and 20.7 minutes per game to 22.7 points and 28 minutes per game. He has started the last 21 games for the Jazz, who have gone 15-6 in that stretch. The Jazz were 7-18 with Sexton coming off the bench.

Sexton is averaging 27.2 points per game over his last five and leads the Jazz with a 29.2% usage rating in that span. The Pelicans are bottom 10 in points and three-pointers allowed to point guards this season. This game has the highest total of the day at 240, and while the Jazz are 6-point underdogs, both teams rank in the top three in offensive rating over the last 10 games.

Best PrizePicks NBA Player Prediction: Collin Sexton More Than 21.5 Points

Peyton Watson M/L 2.5 Rebounds

I like highlighting role players in these articles to be different from the rest of social media, and that’s exactly what we are doing with Peyton Watson. A guy who plays just 18 minutes per game is in a good spot to clean up tonight. The Nuggets are 5-point road favorites in Indiana, who allow the most rebounds to the power forward position (graphic via Fantasy Pros).

Watson is the backup behind Aaron Gordon and has been the first forward off the bench for Denver for a good portion of the season. Watson is averaging 3.0 rebounds per game on 6.2 potential rebounds. Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr. are both on the injury report and will likely play tonight, but I think we might see Watson enter the game a little earlier and play a few more minutes with both of those guys not at 100%. In a good matchup and pace-up spot for Denver, Watson gets to 3+ rebounds tonight.

Best PrizePicks NBA Player Prediction: Peyton Watson More Than 2.5 Rebounds

Nikola Jokic M/L 30.0 1H Fantasy Score

Nikola Jokic is averaging 30.3 1H fantasy points per game this season, which ranks third in the NBA, only behind Joel Embiid and Luka Doncic. Tonight he gets a great matchup against the Indiana Pacers, who will be playing with newly acquired Pascal Siakam but without All-Star Tyrese Haliburton, who is out for rest. The Pacers are dead last in the NBA, allowing the most points in the paint, while Jokic ranks fourth with 16.1 points in the paint per game.

The Pacers rank 27th in defensive rating and second in pace. With the Nuggets as 5-point road favorites, I won’t be surprised if this game ends in a blowout in favor of Denver, which is why I’m going with the first half total here. These teams played just two weeks ago, and Jokic finished with 54.9 fantasy points; however, he missed out on five minutes of playing time as he picked up his third foul early in the second quarter of that game. Jokic is averaging 34.6 1H fantasy points in his last five games and has gone over 30.0 in four of five games.

Best PrizePicks NBA Player Prediction: Nikola Jokic More Than 30.0 1H Fantasy Score
