Michael Gallup Injury News: Mike McCarthy Gives Promising Update on Chances Receiver Plays Week 3

It sure sounds like the Dallas Cowboys will have receiver Michael Gallup available for this week’s Monday Night Football matchup against the New York Giants.

When speaking to reporters today, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy indicated that Gallup will be suiting up for the game, but under a snap count.

“I don’t see Michael (Gallup) playing 70 plays in the game. It is his first game back,” McCarthy said on Thursday, per Cowboys insider Michael Gahlken.

McCarthy would later walk back his comments a little bit, calling it “a hope” that Gallup is available for the Monday Night Football game. But it sure sounds like there’s optimism surrounding the situation.

Given Gallup’s promising status for Week 3, let’s take a look at where we have the speedster ranked for fantasy football.

Michael Gallup Fantasy Football Ranking & Analysis

On our Stokastic NFL Start/Sit Fantasy Football Rankings, we have Gallup ranked near the bottom of the list at #93 overall, but he should be able to open things up for quarterback Cooper Rush and the Cowboys offense.

Gallup suffered a torn ACL in Week 17 of the NFL season in 2021 and was having a bit of a down year before the injury kept him out for the playoffs.

He had just 35 catches for 444 yards and two touchdowns in nine games played during an injury-ridden season. Gallup’s most successful season came in 2019 when he had 66 receptions for 1,107 yards and six touchdowns.

Still, the Cowboys could desperately use a vertical threat in their offense after losing Amari Cooper in the offseason, and Gallup could provide just that.

It’ll be interesting to see how Gallup fits in come Monday night.
