Rashaad Penny had a sensational end to the 2021 campaign. The Seahawks were already out of playoff contention and were ultimately having tryouts for next season, and Penny made the most of the opportunity. In the final five games of the season, Penny averaged 134 yards on 18 carries per game. He went over this line in four of those five games, which came against three bottom-10 run defenses. Wilson was the starting quarterback for all five, which only helped Penny shine. Now that Wilson will be on the other side tonight, the Seahawks will plug in journeyman Geno Smith.
Going from Wilson to Smith will be a tough adjustment for the whole Seahawks offense. Penny relied on teams not stacking the box and having to defend against Wilson scrambling and wide receivers D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett beating them deep down the field.
This game could get out of hand fast. The Broncos are favored by 6.5 points, which could mean a pass-heavy approach by the Seahawks. Seattle second-round pick Kenneth Walker III may not suit up tonight, but expect Travis Homer to see snaps on most passing downs.
